Shajiabang, located on the Bank of Yangcheng Lake, was a guerrilla base in the enemy rear led by the Communist Party of China during the Anti-Japanese War. The New Fourth Army and the local anti-Japanese armed forces bravely fought against the Japanese aggressors and the enemy-puppet reactionary forces with the support of the people and shocked the enemy's courage. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Shanghai Opera "Ludang Fire" and Beijing Opera "Shajiabang" were successively recited throughout the country. In order to celebrate the great achievements of the New Fourth Army in adhering to the East Road War of Resistance Against Japan and carrying out revolutionary traditional education, the museum was founded in 1988. After rebuilding, the enlarged edition became more stale. The Pavilion is located on the west side of the Pilgrimage Square. The existing library has an area of 1300 square meters, 700 square meters of exhibition, more than 600 photos and more than 50 revolutionary cultural relics. With abundant layout and detailed historical materials, the new Fourth Army's heroic achievements in Yangcheng Lake area and the new features of Shajiabang today are reproduced in five ways. At the same time, modern multimedia scenic boxes, scene restoration, granite relief and other means are used to display, which makes the exhibition dynamic and static, plane and three-dimensional, art and science combined, and enhances the educational effect. The museum is one of the most representative memorials of the New Fourth Army in southern Jiangsu. Since its opening, it has received more than 500,000 visitors and has been listed as the moral education base of provincial schools and the patriotic education base of Suzhou.
