A Historical Educational Institution!Silpakorn University is a national university of Thailand which had humble beginnings as a School of Fine Arts in 1933. It grew into a university in 1943 under the Italian art professor Corrado Feroci. Feroci was born and bred in Tuscany but when he moved to Thailand he adopted the local name Silpa Bhirasri. The university grew exponentially under the patronage of King Rama VI, who donated his Tha Phra Palace and Sanam Chandra Palace to it. Currently, the university has three campuses with more than 14 departments like those of architecture, archaeology, decorative art, music, education, engineering, management sciences and education. Many Thai princesses, famous artists, writers and poets have graduated from this institution.
