Dujunfu was named after Yan Xishan's military government, the former governor of Shanxi Province. The old site of Dujunfu, a provincial key cultural relic protection unit, can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty and is the Gongzhong Ear Temple in Jinwen. During the reign of Taiping and Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty, General Pan Mei took the place as a commander-in-chief. In the nineteenth year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty, governor system was set up in every province, and Shanxi governor's Yamen was located here, which lasted for Ming and Qing dynasties. After the Revolution of 1911, Yan Xishan ruled Shanxi, and the former governor's Yamen was renovated and expanded. They were successively called Dudu Fu, Dujun Fu, Shanxi Provincial Government and Taiyuan Appeasement Office. In 1949, the People's Republic of China was established as the office of the Shanxi Provincial Government. On September 2, 2017, the provincial government delisted and relocated.
