The Temple of Castor and Pollux, located in the square of ancient Rome, was originally built by the Roman Republic to defeat the Latin Union in the battle of Lake Regilus (495 years ago). Castor and Pollux were twins of ancient Greek mythology Zeus and Leda, Queen of Sparta. They were introduced into Rome from Greek culture. According to legend, Castor and Pollux appeared on the battlefield as two knights who helped the Republic. After the victory of the battle, the war dictators of the Roman Republic, Olus Postumus Albus Regillences, built this temple to thank the son of Zeus. Later, the temple was used for other purposes many times. It was abandoned in the fourth century A.D. and left only three pillars after the fifteenth century.

The temples of Castor and Pollux are located in the center of the ancient Roman Square. Although there are only three vertical pillars left in the temple today, what is striking in the square is that the exquisite carvings can still be seen at the top of the pillars. Castor and Pollux were two twins of Zeus. Gemini is the two brothers. The temple was built for the battle of Lake Regilos, and it is said that the brothers helped Rome win. The protection of the ruins here is not so good as in Rome. The walkways of the whole building area are steep because of the terrain and other reasons. The space around the site is still relatively wide, it is said that it is because there is a cemetery below.
