The old windmillI came across the windwill while out walking a grand old tower in great condition it was a shame we couldnt get in side to look at it or the view from the top great part of Brisbrane history the surrounding gardens were gorgeous and well kept and a nice walk down Jacobs ladder
This 170-year-old windmill built on sandstone is the oldest building in Brisbane. From 1828 onwards, prisoners expelled from Britain to settle in Australia began to build windmills along the Brisbane River, obtain power to grind wheat and corn, and produce food for later young migrants, which is also a strong testimony to the hard work of prisoners in history.
