The small tower is a famous landmark in Innsbruck. Originally a military fortress, the tall tower is a watchtower to observe the military situation around. Now, it has become a monument to experience the cultural characteristics of Bavarian city-states during the warlord separatist period.

The city tower was originally a watchtower, and there were cells on it. It was rebuilt in 1560, replacing the spire with a small dome, removing prisons and lookouts, and now becoming a famous tourist attraction. At the top of the tower there is a corridor from which you can enjoy the panoramic view of Innsbruck and the surrounding peaks. You can also see Bergisel's ski platform in Mount Bergisel, the jumping platform of the Winter Olympics that year.
