Hofbrauhaus was so good that we returned for a second meal. The cuisine is an excellent combination of German and Georgian that embodies the best of both. Service is excellent and the decor and atmosphere perfect for a casual place to enjoy great food and drink. French fries are freshly made and wonderful. I can only compare them to the ones I make myself. The Greek salad is great with absolutely perfect cheese. Our group of four enjoyed everything we ordered on both occasions. Pricing is moderate for what we've experienced in Georgia and an utter bargain compared to the U.S.A. and Western Europe.
We were recommended by a local to go to HB to try khinkali. But, I was a bit disappointed since it was more of a german bar/restaurant rather than an authentic georgian restaurant. Apart from that, the food was Ok, chicken soup ( not recommended), chakapuli ( that was dellicious), badrijani ( great) and khinkalis, the staff was professional. The only problem was that, it was nothing georgian about it.
Stupid. German restaurant with three (count `email, 3!) German dishes, two of which were unavailable. If I had wanted more Georgian food, I would not have gone to a German restaurant. Georgian food is nice, but why dress your stAff in Dirndl and Lederhosen, advertise as authentic Bavarian and even go the full mile decor-wise if you are just going to be another lousy local tavern? Disappointing and incredibly typical uncaring Georgian staff. I'm beginning to think that the hospitable friendly Georgian is a myth invented to cover up the embarrassment at Stalin's having been a local...
