My wife and I ate lunch here today. What a great little place. You are wonderfully accosted with the aroma of fresh sourdough bread as soon as you enter. My wife had what she called "the best grilled cheese I've ever eaten", and she is a connoisseur of grilled cheese. I on the other hand am a connoisseur of French toast, which I had for lunch. Took the recommendation of neighborhood shopkeepers to try this place, and it was the best. Magnificent bread is the foundation, for simple bread & jam, or for open-face grilled cheese with tomatoes, or french toast with maple syrup & strawberries. Didn't try the avocado toast, but it looked great, so next time.
Jonathan, the Owner, Baker, chef and inspiration behind this wonderful bakery-coffee shop and daytime eatery is a good, kind soul. He also makes fabulous bread. I came in yesterday, asking if I could buy some uncooked dough, so we could bake some breakfast bread with the kids at home on Saturday morning. He took the time to teach me how to get the best results, and sent me home with two cloth-wrapped trays of dough and a beautiful book by San Francisco's master baker Chad Robertson. He said "Bring back the trays and the book when you"re done with them". It's great to be reminded that there are people like Jonathan in this world. He is passionate about his craft and he is thoughtful and generous with his customers. We will be back soon for that spirit, the warm setting and the delicious food too. Thank you, Jonathan.
