History of the statues of Xinjiang People&#39;s Theater
There are two statues of young men and women on both sides of the theater gate.
On January 12, 1957, Xinjiang People&#39;s Theater was completed and put into use.
In 1966, during the &quot;Four Olds&quot; movement, two statues of Xinjiang People&#39;s Theater were partially destroyed and then discarded.
In 1981, the People&#39;s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region adopted the suggestions of people&#39;s representatives to restore the statues of Xinjiang People&#39;s Theater. The government department invited the original author Li Yuxiang to return to Xinjiang from Shandong to restore the statues.
The square in front of the gate is wide, but most of the place has become a parking lot, which does not feel so grand. There is a musical fountain and spotlights in the square, which is not large in scale.
