Jenny Holzer’s text works, called Truisms, were first executed as pithy and sometimes provocative slogans on the streets of New York in the late 1970s and early 1980s as stickers, t-shirts and posters, with the intention of taking art out of the museum and into public life. Holzer quickly converted these statements to the media of advertising and public communication with a series of pivotal LED signs, most famously in New York’s Times Square.
Holzer’s use of electronic technology is, she says, motivated by ‘needing to be where people look’.  Hanging suspended from the ceiling of the Gallery’s South Atrium, in STATEMENT – Truisms +,  2015 iconic statements like ‘ABUSE OF POWER COMES AS NO SURPRISE’ and ‘ENSURE THAT YOUR LIFE STAYS IN FLUX’ cascade and flash in speech-like pulsating rhythms and rainbow spectrums of colour, seemingly with a life of their own.

The Auckland Art Gallery has a modern and solemn appearance. The interior is spacious and bright, and the exhibition content is rich, ranging from Maori art to European classics to contemporary installations. Walking in the exhibition hall, works of different styles are intertwined, but there is no sense of abruptness, but it keeps people curious. My favorite is the high-ceilinged wooden structure space on one floor. Natural light shines through the skylight, which is quiet and warm. The overall visiting rhythm is very comfortable, and you can immerse yourself in art without feeling burdened.

You won&#39;t find the entrance on the ground level, take an escalator inside the hotel and go down to the basement. Although i find the admission fee is a bit high but a tall sky tower overlooking the city of Auckland is a must see... don&#39;t miss it.

Yes, it&#39;s very family friendly and especially great on a wet or rainy day at Auckland. Plan for at least a 2 if not 3hr visit. But do take note that parking is quite limited but you could park further down the coastal road if you&#39;re prepared walk a little.

Just 5 km from down town Auckland it&rsquo;s the highest volcano in Auckland on Mt Eden. The last eruption was about 15,000 years ago, leaving a crater 50Mt deep. Walk to the top of Mt Eden Volcano, there you&rsquo;ll get a 360&deg; view of Auckland so long as the rain stays away.

This is one of my most beautiful walks in Auckland. There are a variety of things to see like the museum, gardens, ponds and ducks. It is peaceful, quiet and very clean. Truly enjoyed my afternoon walk in the Domain.
