We arrived early and were checked in- I feel like we had to have been upgraded because the room was HUGE! Very quiet- beds were comfy-shower was AMAZING! This hotel is connected by a skywalk to many other downtown buildings which was really helpful for us! Highly recommend!!!

We stay here regularly when there's a show at the Des Moines Performing Arts Center. The location is perfect with food and nightlife nearby. The hotel is in an older building, so the rooms tend to be various shapes and sizes, which has its charm. We are always welcomed by friendly staff who are eager to help with anything we might need. The rooms are comfortable.

I was surprised at such a high end hotel for DSM the staff was not willing to go the extra mile. While the lobby and common areas are very nice the bathroom in our room was extremely small. To the point if you are a larger person you will be unable to turn around without rubbing the glass shower or other wall, it was almost comical. Lastly, in my experience at a higher end hotel you call down and they will bring your car up for you if you have used valet. Pretty much a standard with hotels that offer such a service. I called the front desk and was told she was unwilling to do this and had no way to contact the valet staff. I know from being in the lobby the front door is maybe 30 feet from the front desk but she was unwilling to walk over and ask them to grab the car associated with my room number. When I got to the valet he was no where to be found and I had to go hunting asking other members of hotel staff for the valet, normally not a big deal but we were in a hurry to get to our next thing for the day. Overall, I would not stay again I have had much better experiences at other hotels down town DSM. I was disappointed as this hotel just went thought a huge remodel and has a lot of history in the DSM area.

We always like staying here if we want to vwnture down town. Its close to food, fun, and activities. The hotal staff are always great. The bar in the hotel is sweet and the restaurant is great as well. Overall very nice hotel downtown Des Moines.

Super friendly staff, plenty of accommodations in the hotel (food, bar, snacks). Multiple shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance. Affordable offsite parking close by. Highly recommend for the area and price.

Downtown area was a little iffy at first but the convenience of the location won out. Great walkability to the market, dining and bars. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff.

Great location and staff was always available and always very helpful. I liked that it was not overly decorated in Christmas stuff too.

Room and bathroom are small but very nicely decorated. Parking ramp was cheap considering you are staying downtown.

We were running in the Des Moines Marathon. The location was perfect! Hotel was so very nice! Highly recommend this property!

The checking in and out was very easy. Staff was more than superior! Great service all around. Will be staying there again.

It started bad as they had us booked for 2 rooms, when we had only reserved one. The lady at the front desk told us we had two rooms, when I said we only had booked one she canceled the other room, which was an adjoining room. The room had a strange smell to it. The room was very small. The bed wasn’t made right and came undone when we laid down. The pillows were tiny and very flimsy. They didn’t replace the toiletries after the first day. The day after we got home I checked my bank statement & they charged us for our room plus one night in another room! When I called customer service, the girl told me someone had stayed on another floor, the 2nd night, under my cc. I was aghast! Cecelia was very rude, condescending & told me there were NO supervisors available & I’d have to wait for an investigation to be done as SOMEONE stayed in that room. I told her I never received another invoice other then the one for the room we stayed in. She said, “oh for reason it didn’t get sent to you.” She then proceeded to create one and email it to me. Her supervisor called me within 10 min and apologized and removed the erroneous charge from my card. We had stayed there last year for the state wrestling tournament and had a much better experience, so we thought we would stay there again. Not going back next year to this hotel. Very disappointed!

Took three tries to get extra pillows, hot water radiant heat system was so noisy, could not sleep. No one wanted to hear it. No way I would stay here again. Definitely overpriced!
