巴克蘭莊園 - 瑞萊斯城堡酒店(Buckland Manor - A Relais & Chateaux Hotel)

It could have been a fantastic two-night break, but on the second night, after dinner and before going out for drinks, we encountered a horrendous smell in our room that turned our stomachs. The staff came up to witness the smell and immediately offered us another room (fortunately, they had one available). We then had to pack up all our belongings, move to the other room, and unpack. By the time we finished, it was late, and we decided to call it a night instead of going for drinks as planned. This ruined what could have been a great evening. Upon checking out the next morning, we spoke with the General Manager, Marcellin Hardouin, who only offered a £50 discount on our final bill. Disappointing, especially for a Relais & Châteaux hotel.

Lovely food and first class experience. Beautiful gardens and peaceful location. 3 course lunch plus olives, canapés, coffee and chocolates. Highly recommended for a fabulous traditional Sunday lunch in luxurious surroundings. Well worth the extra cost

The whole family had an Amazing time at Buckland. The Manor is more your home rather than an hotel. The service and attention to detail was perfect for us. From the welcome by a young man at the door Kyran we had a lovely homemade drinks in the lounge. The room was great not cheap but good quality. And the food was amazing. You can see the chef picking herbs from the garden which is great while having a drink in the garden. If you stay more than one night the menu doesn’t change much. But if you ask for different options they do provide it. On our last night we had some lobsters and steak. We will return!

The welcome and the quality of food was outstanding! The confit duck pastille, venison loin and poached pear among others were so delicious, amazing cuisine and chef in amazing surroundings! All the care was given to enhance our confort and nothing was too much for all the staff we have encountered! Outstanding quality and attention for detail.

We stayed for a three day Christmas break. It was fabulous! The only downside being that our afternoon tea was slightly spoilt by many people taking up the space we expected to relax in during our afternoon tea!

This was our 9th visit to BM for a Wedding anniversary so stayed one night. Everything was as good as ever and the quality of the Food both for Dinner and Breakfast remains first class -in fairness for the money as it should do.Our only criticism was that the price of wine has been upped really quite substantially and a glass of pre dinner fizz is £ 18 plus service for the cheapest - and not French ! It wouldn't put us off returning but it stood out from other 5 star hotels visited recently.

Buckland Manor has the most idyllic property and location in an amazing area within The Cotswolds. The guest rooms, common areas, outdoor spaces and gardens set the stage for what we hoped would be a five-star experience in the English countryside. The staff try hard and mostly deliver, but there are dramatic and noticeable shifts in the service level from one staff member to another. Overall, service is quite a mixed bag, inconsistent and definitely not at par with the five-star cost of a stay. We had a four-night stay at Buckland Manor, and I fear we may have stayed too long. While their prix fix dinner menu gives the suggestion of splendor, we found the food to be lacking in flavor and quantity across the board. It was apparent that they only order so much food per day, so you definitely do not want to be in their last seating. I was served a scrap of sea bass tail for my main course that was mostly skin could not even have weighed a full ounce. It should have not have been served. There are never changes or specials offered to the menu at breakfast, in the lounge or in the main restaurant. The so-called soup of the day and fish special were the same for us all four days. The main dining room where breakfast and dinner are served lacks warmth and gives the impression of a wedding reception venue. It’s impossible not to hear the private conversations at other tables. A bit of background music would dramatically improve the aesthetic. Given the redundancy of the menu options and the uninviting room, the dining experience was immediately unexciting and boring. We were fortunate to have great weather, so we opted to take several meals at their outdoor seating areas which definitely helped. Overall, the splendor of Buckland Manor’s situation redeemed the our overall memory of our trip, but they have a definite management issue in assuring consistent quality in their service and food experience. They did not earn what they charged us for our stay.
