紅獅賓館(Red Lion)

We only had reasonable expectations about this pub but we were still disappointed. The food was not good at all, tasteless burgers and masses of dry overcooked ribs. Service reasonable but not great. Went to the Castle Inn a few miles away the next day that was fabulous. Worth the drive. I can’t imagine this place gets many return visitors.

Stopped for lunch. OK- the good stuff - the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The staff did spray the tables down after use and the place was clean albeit very tired and out of date. The decor needs a serious refurb. The less good - one of the weirdest pub menus I have ever seen - mostly burgers with pulled lamb or pulled pork or pulled something. There was fish on the menu - but even though it was printed on the pinky.beige photocopy menu it did not say what the fish was. Steak and Ale pie had almost as many hunks of potato as meat in it and at £16.95 not a great choice. I guess it is hard to screw up a burger though. Overall the meal was poor to awful.

Nous avons été très bien reçus par l'ensemble des personnes qui se sont occupé de nous. Nous les remercions pour leur accueil et leur gentillesse à notre égard durant les 2 jours passés dans ce pub authentique, et ce malgré la barrière de la langue.Nous avons adoré, à 10 minutes de durdle door et lullwoth cove. Personale molto gentile, si mangia bene e le porzioni sono molto abbondanti. Locale molto tipico e facile da trovare.

A group of motorcycle friends have been visiting the Red Lion for a few years now and it's always been great. Now it's changed hands and unfortunately for the worst. There is an officious little man (Rob, I believe) who needs to learn some people skills. We were told the campsite was full and there were plenty of spaces They shut the bar at 10pm Fri and Sat so I presume all week and there were a couple of large groups spending money buying drinks. So very strange business decision to shut bar at 10pm. 4 of us later were sick which is most unusual and we weren't sure if it was the food, drink or Sun. In the end we settled on it being the beer as that's the only thing we all had. Having said that the the food looked and tasted good. The beer also tasted alright although seemed flat with no head. We won't be back ...shame At the countryman pub a short walk down the Road. The ale was much better, Food was great, bar is open till 11pm and they had a band on. That's where we'll be next year. I spent over £70 On food and drink in the countryman and there were 10 of us. So the Red Lion threw that business away. I'm not sure the new people at the Red Lion are cut out for this trade.

THE RED LION - THE WELCOME , WE WERE SHOWN OUR ROOMS GIVEN OUR KEYS & LEFT TO IT. I FOUND THE WAY FROM THE ROOM TO THE DOWNSTAIRS BAR & RESTAURANT A LITTLE CONFUSING THE FIRST TIME OF USING. WE SAT IN THE BAR WAITING FOR THE REST OF OUR PARTY, WHEN THEY ARRIVED THE STAFF WERE A GREAT HELP WITH MY SON - IN - LAW WHO HAS BREATHING PROBLEMS. HIS EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED IN THEIR ROOM & WE ALL MET LATER FOR DINNER. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. AS WE GOT TO KNOW THE STAFF OVER THE WEEKEND WE HAD A LOT OF LAUGHS & JOKES. I DONT DRINK BUT MY SON & SON - IN - LAW SAID THAT THE BEER WAS QUITE GOOD ( ENGLISH UNDERSTATEMENT ) ALL ROUND, I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT. ONE THING THAT I DID NOTICE WAS THAT WHERE THE RED LION COULD NOT HELP WITH SOMEONES WANTS THEY WERE NOT AVERSE TO RECOMMENDING OTHER VENUES NEARBY. ( A 5 MILE RADIUS )

This is our third time staying on their campsite in campervan. Food in the pub was excellent but you must have an healthy appetite as the portions are very generous. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Bonus is free bacon/egg muffin for breakfast if camping. Definitely will be returning again.

Fabulous stay great food and superb service. We stayed at the red lion and nothing was too much trouble. Food was fabulous.. my son forgot his kindle and they very kindly piped it in his luggage which was being picked up. This was such a relief so thank you x

We had a superb lunch here yesterday. The food was delicious you could tell there was a great knowledge of the ingredients used when tasting our food. I had Hunters Chicken 10/10, my partner had Rump Steak 10/10. They even make their own mustard 10/10. The owner/manager was very pleasant you can tell she will go above & beyond to make your dining experience memorable. We leave Durdle Door this Sunday. We will definitely go back before we go home.
