紙月古德爾斯旅館(Paper Moon Kudils)

We looked forward to staying at Paper Moon. Our driver followed a sign to this hotel but travelling further saw a sign with 2 arrows pointing in opposite directions. Finally get to a gate with the Paper Moon board but no signs to reception. We called the contact number and were told we had to keep going down the driveway. Quite a few guys came running out and then disappeared. Nobody actually welcomed us and told us where we had to go. We eventually came to an open cafe area and quite a few guys just stood around not actually saying anything. No reception as such but the guy at the bar told us we were in the right place. We were given a welcome drink and they took our passports for check in but still didn’t tell us we had checked in. The rooms are individual units. Very simple but ok. The door doesn’t quite reach the ground which left me a bit nervous about creepy crawlies. The bathroom is huge but basic. No toiletries provided apart from a tiny cake of soap. The staff were mostly very friendly and helpful and provided whatever food we asked for but having all male staff just hanging around all the time was quite intimidating. Staff should probably also not hover around the tables as often and leave guests to enjoy their meals. The place is also the local bar so locals are constantly at the bar window for their alcohol. That also left us feeling a bit unsafe as there was a drunken fight one night. There’s nothing around this hotel so it would have to be on a full board basis. Luckily we had a car and driver and were able to check out local cafes. The place was clean. Probably not ideal for solo or young ladies travelling alone.

During our stay at Paper Moon Kudlis, we encountered a rather disheartening experience as the actual place didn't match the expectations set by the photos on their website. The discrepancy between the portrayal online and the reality was quite noticeable, and it left us feeling totally disappointed. On the very first day, we faced an inconvenience when the toilet soap holder broke, and the sink started a leak which was an unexpected start to our vacation. The apparent beauty depicted in the website images seemed to be a far cry from what we encountered in person, giving us a false impression of the place. Despite these setbacks, I must commend the staff for their exceptional service and efforts to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Their professionalism and attentiveness were noteworthy and helped to alleviate some of our disappoin**ent. However, it is essential for the Management of Paper Moon to update their website with more accurate representations of the actual accommodations to avoid misleading future guests.

Rustic hotel accommodation right on beach, 10 minute drive out of Arugam Bay. Tuk Tuk accessible. Basic accommodation with wifi only in verandah of our unit (11), and in dining area. Lovely a**osphere and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Loved their Sri Lankan meals. It’s not 5 star hotel but the staff make up for it.

This has been a wonderful stay! We had our own little bungalow in a garden surrounded by palm trees! It had both AC and a fan! The place has a nice pool and is laying right on the beach! 🤩 The staff greeted us in a heartwarming way when we arrived late at evening and made us a good meal, even despite the fact that our booking didnt come trough in time as we booked it late. They are all very kind and helpful with everything! The Sri Lankan food they make is amazing and they know how to take care of you! I highly recomend this place! 🌞If you are here to surf, they are happy to arrange this for you! Raja, the older gentleman, a positive soul and a happy person was great to us!❤️ If you want secluded prestine beaches then this place and Whiskey Point is perfect for you!

We booked 3 rooms on a local holiday and informed the hotel that it would be a late checkin when the booking is done. Also we contacted the restaurant and ordered some foods for the dinner while we are on the way to the hotel and informed that it would be 10PM when we arrive there. The staff looked bit arrogant with our late arrival and wonder why because we have informed them that we would be late. Even some vulgar words were exchanged among restaurant manager and staff because of our arrival. We do understand the nature of such late checkin but they had enough time to mentally prepare even if they are angry on our late arrival. The rooms were good in condition and worth the price. Location is good and property had been managed well. After check in, we came for the dinner and some of us were preparing to have a drink. Though we have ordered the foods and bites 3 hours earlier, it took around 30 minutes to arrange them for table, which is OK for us. We requested to arrange the dinner in the cabana hall and they agreed for it. The foods were terrible and the worst we had in our lives. There were no sea food in the "sea food fried rice". There are better food on streets than in this hotel. The prices are OK for a hotel meal but the quality of food were very poor. There were 6-8 dogs circulating around us while we are having dinner and some of them were always lied under the dinner table. The staff gave a minimum try to remove them but after we had to do it by our own. We do love dogs but cannot accept such type of a sorrounding when we are having meals. There were not enough space to keep the foods that we ordered and we kept them on another table near by. Suddenly noticed that the dogs are eating the foods climbing on to the tables. It was very disgusting and we were very embarassed. There were no any staff member to inform and attend to these issues. The pool was not cleaned but a staff member cleaned it in the morning. All other facilities are averagely OK except customer service, hygiene and foods. The prices of foods are normal restaurant prices but the quality of the foods are very low, worse than a street hotel. Even the restaurant manager accepted it but charged the same price. Will not recommend this place to any one and will not visit this terrible place again.
