The Olde Barn, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Normal hotel room in a modern building. Quite a long way from reception to our room. Quiet except for two large dogs which seemed to be in the next room, barked every time someone came down the corridor. Perhaps belonged to someone at the organised dinner that evening. We don't understand why someone would leave dogs unattended in a hotel room. Spoiled our evening and , yes , we did tell reception.

Two nights staying during the week for a work meeting. It was okay, a little tired in places but the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. It is a bit dated and tired looking but served its purpose. The bed was okay. Pool area was nice and well maintained.

The first thing i must say is that the staff were lovely. Check-in wasn't brilliant - my record didn't show breakfast paid for and we'd been given twin beds instead of a double. That was speedily sorted out, with a lovely lady fixing beds together and changing our bedding within minutes. It was disappointing that the shower had no pressure- my husband lathered up and couldn't get enough of a trickle to wash it off! We ended up having baths, not eco-friendly or what we like. The biggest beef was that, because they had a private event on at the hotel on Saturday, they were totally overwhelmed and had to stop taking food orders from residents. After a long day out we just wanted to eat-in and relax but this wasn't possible unless we were prepared for a long wait for them to open the kitchen to us. Luckily we found a fantastic pub in the nearby village, but we hadn't wanted to drive again and i think its unacceptable that residents get such low priority when there is an event on. Forward planning should have avoided that situation.

Bed. The main feature of staying in a hotel!! The mattress needs to be comfortable - it was a very disappointing nights sleep. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar food - I wanted to ask the ‘chef’ if he had eaten what was being served? The nachos are just crisps with tasteless slop and plastic cheese on. Sorry!

Rooms are ok , Overall hotel is clean, breakfast was good, lots of parking, very convenient to Grantham area

Food was great, staff were great. Room was dated, bed not comfortable, fan in toilet was very loud at night time and shower leaking.

The lock on the door could not be opened easily - it took 3 key cards and 30 minutes to open the door.

Receptionist was lovely and friendly However the good customer service ended there. The 'Duty Manager' in the restaurant was very rude and shouting at her staff. A lovely waitress was going to assist a customer who was waiting and she yelled at the poor waitress 'don't you dare walk away from me when I'm talking to you!!!' We were waiting to be seated when she shouted at her colleague. She never apologised or looked shameful! We sat down, ordered our drinks and main course. The food came within 5 minutes, drink followed 5 minutes after. Not fresh food! Desserts were inedible. Never again!

Sadly not at all worth the money. Bathroom was dirty, mattress was full of broken springs which kept digging into me and partner. This along with the noise from upstairs and the corridor kept us up all night, not a good nights sleep at all. The walls were so thin you could hear everything from the corridor and we were right at the begging so everyone walked passed. Not happy with the money at all and the receptionist didn’t want to know at check out either. Our room was also meant to be superior and was anything but, was actually a disabled room so we paid more for the superior and didn’t even get basic
