Staff are helpful, breakfasts service was excellent.

After reading some of the past reviews, we were a little apprehensive about staying here. We needn’t have worried because it was a wonderful couple of nights. Every member of staff we met here were attentive, professional and very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The room was great and the shower room was amazing.Everything was clean worked perfectly. The breakfast was good apart from the turkey bacon which I personally don’t like but understood the reasons why “proper “ bacon is not on the menu. That is my personal choice so I won’t let that alter my review. The rest of the breakfast was of a high standard. The bar was lovely and again the service was perfect. We didn’t use the restaurant as the purpose of our visit was to visit family and friends in the area, but if it’s anything like the rest of our stay, I’m sure it’s to the same standards of the rest of it. All in all, we will be booking again to stay here, the next time we make the journey north. We can’t recommend here highly enough. Thank you Tong Park

The worst experience ever in a hotel. An ex-Holiday Inn probably more professionally managed then. Reception confused, personal info incorrect, Dreadful Parking Eye system, log your car, or face a huge fine. The room number on the door was written in biro, a clue as to what lay beyond. The sink in the bathroom was was badly broken and not repaired. but It was 7pm and we were tired and hungry, or would have asked for a change of room. Paintwork shabby. Really bad. Bar / restaurant staff lazy and unhelpful. We were a group of four and ordered from the menu, much of which was unavailable, including lettuce for the salad, chicken wings, Rib-Eye Steak etc etc. The T Bone Steak I chose, was overcooked and small. The wines were poor quality and sour tasting, all horrid. The hotel seems to be Indian owned now, as Sikhs are forbidden from drinking alcohol, I guess the quality of the wine is not monitored by them. Service during our meal was a nigh**are, I had to get up to find someone to serve us. I retired to the bar for a drink. The barman watched me for a long time and said he was on a break and there was no one else to help me, Finally I and i said well if you are unable to serve me, if I serve myself and l will pay you when you have finished your break. He suddenly forgot about the importance of his break and called security. I am 70 years old and the man he called was disrespectful, rude and aggressive. I pointed out to the receptionist the problems I had encountered. She asked why I was asking her? As it was nothing it was nothing to do with her! The security man said if I didn't like it why didn't I just check out there and then? As I was forced to pre-pay and it was late I declined. I said I intended to complain and asked for his name. He said under GDPR regulations he wasn't obliged to supply that information, although while he was prepared to to hide behind those rules, Frankly I doubt he knew what the acronym meant. Avoid!

Firstly the positives of Tong Park Hotel. We arrived and the first impression was ok. Reception and lobby were attractive. Check in was smooth and the receptionist was pleasant and friendly. There was some confusion over charges, as we were initially over charged, which after pointing this out was refunded. The bedroom was an executive upgrade, and I guess for the extra £20 was worth it, although, in my opinion, not especially executive. It was spacious, with a nice bathroom and spotlessly clean. The furniture was very dated. We had dinner in the hotel, we were a little apprehensive when we checked past reviews, but we went ahead. Firstly all the staff were friendly and welcoming and they definitely need recognition. The dinner was just ok, nothing special, but ok, nicely cooked rare steak, although it comes with nothing, everything else is extra, so frozen chips and onion rings. Breakfast the following morning I would give a miss. The cheapest possible products, instant coffee, tinned fruit salad, cheapest sliced bread, frozen sausages etc. I recommend going to the garden centre 2 mins down the road for breakfast. It is a shame, this hotel has every opportunity to be good. It is clear it is owned and run by business people with little hotelier experience, the basics are missing, the attention to detail and the customer centric attitude in the products and services offered, (or not offered) should be paramount, and not based on what the owners want, but what the customers want. It just has a feel as if anything will do. To repeat the staff are the best asset of this hotel, however I feel they are fighting a losing battle and need support and inves**ent from the management. I doubt I will stay again, but hope it improves.

Would not recommend you stay at this place the room. Looked like it hadn't been upgraded since the 1980s shower didn't work light in bathroom poorly fitted u comfy hard bed it a very good hotel only. Good. Thing was it had some. Half. Decent grounds

It was a nice room, there was a little bit of dust, but in general was quite clean. would’ve been nice to have the room I paid with a king size bed. The staff were very friendly and nice, in general was a nice stay. The food wasn’t worth the price though.

Only issue we had other than no one on reception at 1:15 a.m. 3/1 when we returned was my brother, who kindly came to greet us and helped carry our luggage to our room, has received a parking charge, he was on the grounds for 17 mins, would like this rectified asap, his reg was AV11FBX. We shall be returning in April as hotel is very comfortable and close to family who we visit regularly.

Excellent stay; comfortable beds; beautiful luxury room; really friendly super efficient staff; excellent value for money. We will return, really pleased to find this hotel being so close to relatives. Thank you for making out stay so enjoyable.
