聖靈羣島施恩格利海灘度假酒店(Shingley Beach Resort Whitsundays)

Only stayed for one night. Both the apartment and the public areas are tired and in need of TLC. Lots of steps to get to the apartment. Living are OK, but main bedroom short of furniture (bedside tables etc). Problem with the plumbing. Flush the toilet and the washbasin taps wouldn't work. Run the shower and it went cold when another apartment turned theirs on. Cannot comment on the staff as we never met any. Lkewise the restaurant, because it was closed

The bathroom was disgusting, especially the shower. The shower screens and the floor were filthy. The ceiling fans had dust hanging off them. I was disgusted to take a shower in that bathroom, imagine how the criteria for washing bath towels and bed linen must be! I stayed in apartment number 28.

I stayed at another hotel in Airlie beach see the review, and the differences were noticeable. The Shingley is a individual owned 30-40 room location right on the beach 100 yards from the marina. The check-in people and everyone else in the organization's just pleasant, nice and make you feel welcome. There are tons of tiny little touches from cookies to milk in the refrigerator to other things that make it a great four star location. The restaurant is run by a separate company and only open till 2:00 p.m. so having dinner especially on a Monday night is a challenge without a car. Other than that the rooms are spotless most of them overlook the water and the harbor, most are set up like traditional kitchenettes with all the appliances you would need for a longer-term stay. This is definitely a place that family could say in for a week save some money with the kitchen have a relaxing time swim in a medium size pool I feel like it was a good vacation.

Location is great - away from the central Airlie hub, but close to the boardwalk to take the walk in. If you get the right room the view is across to the marina and out to the islands We had apartment four for our stay. The cleanliness and maintenance is the worst we have encountered in all our travels. This was raised with the manager at the front desk who admitted the cleaning was not to standard but he basically dismissed it by blaming the owner of the apartment for wanting to keep cleaning costs down and supplying cheap furniture. Refer to the photos to back up what we say below. The clothes dryer filter was absolutely choked with matted hair/tissues, the shower had badly broken wall tiles and mould in the aluminum surround, the bottom of the bathroom door is swollen from moisture (no exhaust fan fitted), the smaller bedroom had a matt of hair inside the cupboard (right next to the vacuum cleaner), the couch is very worn and in poor condition, the coffee table was unstable and unusable, a kitchen cupboard door was on an angle, the clothes airer was broken (we had to hold it together using a coat hanger). The whole facility is dated and in need of major work, but the cleaning is appalling. Also, do not book this facility unless you are prepared to haul your own luggage up steep slopes and up flights of stairs, unsuitable for older people.

Arrived a little early but managed to get into our room - we ended up with a 3 bed (instead of the 2 bed we had booked) on the very top floor. It had a great view, though we did have an awful lot of stairs to climb. There were 2 queen bedrooms upstairs and a twin downstairs - which we used for the suitcases. There was a mish mash of crockery etc., and wouldn’t be ok for 6 guests. There were a few issues with the room - washing machine was dirty and it’s surrounds, ants in one of the bathrooms, floors were dirty and lights didn’t work upstairs. On the whole the only real issues for us was the washing machine and dirty floor.
