The room is different than you describe online. Services are really poor, staff attitudes were so bad for any hospitality standards. I rarely gave negative comments towards hotel booking, but I am really unhappy this time.

The staff at Carbis Bay Hotel are incredible! Having stayed at some of the most well-known hotels and resorts, I must say, the team here is absolutely on point! I don’t say this lightly as I’m a huge introvert, but I was blown away by how happy to help, friendly and polite EVERYONE seemed. Probably the best hospitality teams I have experienced within the U.K, It really feels like you are staying with your favourite relatives. However, there was a slight issue worth mentioning that left us feeling upset.. We were excited by the possibility of a room upgrade that was mentioned in our booking confirmation. As stated in other reviews, the hotel seems to offer discretionary upgrades, and as this was a very special and sentimental trip for us, we thought we had got lucky. Prior to arriving, we started looking at the room we thought we were getting online and were really excited to check in. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we received the room we had originally booked, which left us feeling deflated for the entire break. I can only assume it was taken off us and passed to someone else… The room was still lovely, but we were left feeling a little awkward, like we didn’t matter as much as other guests, and it unfortunately tainted our break. We didn’t feel we could mention it to the staff as they were all so lovely, and we were technically given what we had paid for. We felt like the kid who got picked last for the school football team a little empty and awkward. Despite this, the beauty of the hotel, its stunning location, and the amazing staff shouldn’t be forgotten. We still managed to create special memories during our first holiday as a family of three, with our daughter experiencing the sea and beach for the first time and my wife getting the break she deserved before returning to work after 12 months of maternity leave. Thank you for all your efforts, it was nearly perfect

The infrastructure at this hotel is excellent, the concierge service is good and the Ugly Butterfly is brilliant. The views are staggering. However, some improvements need to be made to Breakfast (you have to book even if staying at the hotel, and you have to book every day, there is never water in the water urn) and the gym (boiling hot, rubbish media set up, opens too late at 9.30!) and the rooms have safes but no-one has yet bolted them in.

2018 verbrachten meine Tochter und ich 3 wunderbare Nächte im Carbis Bay Hotel. Aus diesem Grund entschieden mein Mann und ich uns, unseren diesjährigen Urlaub dort zu verbringen. Schon bei der Buchung gab es Schwierigkeiten, da die Website des Hotels immer abbrach. Also versuchte ich es per Mail. Wir buchten, der Hotelpreis wurde der Kreditkarte belastet, eine Buchungsbestätigung erhielt ich allerdings erst auf Nachfrage mehrere Wochen später. Bei unserer Ankunft regnete es und niemand half mit dem Gepäck. Die Damen an der Rezeption waren entweder unfreundlich. Falls wir es mal mit einer sehr freundlichen Person zu tun hatten, stellte sich heraus, dass diese nicht kompetent war und wir unsere Anliegen einer weiteren Kollegin unterbreiten mussten. Gebucht hatten wir eine Junior Suite mit Meerblick. Diese Suite befand sich im Anbau hinter der Rezeption. Sie war groß und absolut lieblos und schäbig eingerichtet und abgewohnt. Der Safe funktionierte nicht und wurde während unseres Aufenthaltes auch nicht repariert. Ein Gästetablett gab es nicht, dieses wurde vom vorhergehenden Gast zerstört und wir sollten unsere Handys nutzen. Eine Minibar gab es nicht. Im Bad blätterte der Putz von der Decke. Über den Parkplatz hatte man direkten Zugang auf unsere Terrasse. Wir baten um ein anderes Zimmer, bekamen aber nur eine Lodge mit 3 Schlafzimmern und zusätzlichen Kosten von 2000 Pfund pro Nacht angeboten. Wir mußten unseren Sohn, der in England in einer Summerschool war früher abholen, so daß dieser ab der 2. Nacht mit uns im Hotel war. Wir baten um ein Zustellbett, daß allerdings auch erst nach nochmaligem Bitten in der 3. Nacht zur Verfügung stand. Trotz der dritten Person im Zimmer erhielten wir weder Handtücher und Wasser für diese. Insgesamt fühlten wir uns so unwohl im Hotel, daß wir vorzeitig abreisten und 2 Nächte verfallen ließen. Für das Zustellbett wurde die Kreditkarte im nachhinein für 4 Nächte mit 400 Pfund belastet, tatsächlich hatten wir es nur 3 Nächte. Auf Nachfrage und Bitte um Rückerstattung wurde geschrieben, daß unser Sohn ja auch ein Frühstück hatte (für 100 Pfund!). Allein der Spa ist sehr schön, toller Pool und Whirlpool, freundliches Personal und sehr gutes Essen. Wir kennen viele Luxushotels in Europa und Amerika, allerdings hatten wir bisher noch nie solch eine schlechte Erfahrung bei so hohen Preisen machen müssen.

The most amazing hotel, right on the beach. Our room was spacious with a gorgeous view and a bath tub in the middle which looked out onto the sea. Was perfect to top off my birthday weekend. Food was delicious in all restaurants with tentative staff who were happy to help with anything and topped off with some fabulous cocktails. All round amazing weekend for celebrating. Already rebooked our trip for October. Would recommend 100%
