卡麗勒普里米爾酒店(Premier Inn Carlisle M6 Jct44)

Let me set the scene: I am on a motohome holiday with my wife but we have arranged a surprise for her...the whole family and friends are to surprise her. They book on mass the Premier Inn, Junction 44, Carlisle and I sow the seeds with my wife that we will pop past this Premier Inn and have one of their amazing buffet breakfasts. You see, my wife didn't know it, but I had arranged to 'marry her' again after 28 years...and it was our anniversary and this surprise was to be had right here in the Thyme Restaurant. Well, from the night before right through to the big reveal, the amazing staff at this Premier Inn were in on the act. On the day my wife and I stopped for our improptu breakfast, one member of staff, Margaret ( who deserves an Oscar), met us at the door of the restaurant, showed us to the table where family and friends were sitting, whilst keeping herself covering my wife's vision to prevent her from seeing the very long table filled with people. At the last minute, Margaret side stepped, ushered my wife past and 'Surprise'...there was her world before her miles from home. The service and hospitality given by Margaret, her duty manager in the restaurant and indeed all the staff who had worked on Saturday evening and Sunday morning 14th and 15th October was truly amazing and above and beyond...and the food in the restaurant was amazing too, as you would expect. Thank you to you all at Premier Inn, Junction 44, Carlisle, and well done. You deserve our thorough recommendation to anybody who is looking for somewhere to stay or to eat at when visiting this amazing part of the country, or those just passing through. Or, like us, looking to 'Tie the Knot' at nearby Gretna Green having traveled great distance 👏

Room was extremely comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep. Lady on reception desk on arrival and Margaret in the bar were both great. Margaret was working extremely hard as hotel was very busy and she was working the bar on her own as well as helping out in the restaurant. Only problem we had was in the morning we found the coffee maker wasn’t working. Also great location as just off the M6 on the way to Scotland. Lots of shops near by too.

I checked just after midnight, after working a long week, to spilt my journey uo and get a great nights sleep. I arrived and found a very unwelcoming surprise awaiting me in the bathroom. Clearly the housekeeping staff was caught short, after having an explosive episode shall we say! Putting that aside, the 730am woke up call of staff slamming in and out of doors with cleaning trolleys and discussing all sorts was horrendous. An awful shop over. Most disappointing PI stay. Went to reception - not a sole to be seen - they was out having a cig! Says it all

I will start with the positives, my son took ill through the night and the woman and gentleman on night duty were so helpful when we requested fresh sheets and some bags etc to clean up. Genuinely could not have been more helpful so thank you! It was handy for shops, retail park etc and getting back onto M6 Otherwise....Possibly the worst premier Inn I have ever stayed in. Looks like a prison from outside and very unwelcoming feel. On arrival (30 mins prior to check in time after a 5 hour journey) we approached the desk and barely before I had any words out of my mouth I was informed it would be £10 to check in early-no thanks I'll wait the half hour.....When we returned at specified check in time we were advised room was not ready and she would have to move things around to accommodate us anyway. To be fair the room itself was clean, comfy bed and a standard premier inn room, body wash dispenser in shower was empty but we had our own. This hotel is hugely let down by the communal areas which just feel run down and in need of a good clean. There is almost more black tape on the carpet than there is actual carpet and the floor is extremely uneven bordering on dangerous. We chose this hotel for an overnight stay as there was restaurant onsite and we did not have to travel far from the motorway. Restaurant was closed all weekend, which seemingly is not unusual. Vending machines in the hotel were either empty, barely stocked or out of order. We went to get a drink at the bar (felt more like a café and fairly run down, chipped wooden tables, chairs etc) and 3 of the 4 drinks I ordered were unavailable-no hot chocolate, no decaf coffee, barely any of the gins listed on the menu. On leaving the bar my husband realised he had dropped his bank card and returned to the bar (the only place he had been). The woman behind the bar advised she had given it to reception, she advised she had noticed as soon as he left but by the time she picked it up he had gone. He approached reception and was informed that their policy is to 'cut up found bank cards'. Even though he could state all details full name etc on the card she was reluctant to return it advising it was 'in case someone had seen him drop it and was now claiming it'-seems unlikely that a complete stranger would see him drop it, know his full name and then try to fraudulently claim it but ok-seems like a ludicrous policy. We were going on holiday and had no cash, evidently we were panicking. Eventually after some back and fore and being able to relay the card number (benefit of too much online shopping!) she did return the card to us. All in, if I had paid £29 for the room then I'd stay again but otherwise there are much nicer budget hotels about.

Decent hotel , good location close to shops and places to eat . Rooms are clean and good size for family's but could do with a tin of paint .Opened the curtains and it looked like it's not been painted since it was built.

We stayed overnight recently at this Premier Inn when attending a gig in Carlisle. Have stayed at this one before, it’s handy for us as it’s close to the A7 junction and away from the rabble of the city centre and there’s plenty of parking spaces to the front and rear. Booked a Premier Plus room as at £40 for the night it was only a fiver more than a standard room. The room was clean and spacious and it was nice to have complimentary water and chocolate. We didn’t make use of the coffee machine and I was really disappointed at the lack of herbal tea bags on the hospitality tray. An all too common occurrence nowadays evidently…c’mon hotels, we’re not all caffeine *******! Just as well I’d packed an emergency bedtime teabag in anticipation. We decided to treat ourselves to continental breakfast in the morning and everything was as expected (with raspberry teabags available!). All the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.

Everything was perfect. From the lovely Premier Plus Room to the fantastic value meal deal. We had breakfast and dinner every day and considering the cost the food was exceptional. All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend.

Chose here for a break from driving on the way to Scotland. Ideal location. Reception staff not very welcoming. Room was standard for Premier Inns with space and a comfortable bed and all clean. We sat in the bar for a drink and would say, we waited a while for service. BUT, that said it did seem understaffed for a busy hotel so I can't point a finger at staff...more the lack of. We went into Thyme restaurant for Tea. Again, they are the same everywhere and you know what you are getting. Staff, well we have to give praise and a shout out to a few who were so friendly and jolly Margaret who was on breakfasts with such a happy smile, chatty and smiley and run around very busy but still made time for us/ customers.Karl who served us at the bar, Again friendly and engaged in chat and banter. I know it was a drop in stay but those mentioned, your great service didn't go unnoticed!! Thank you. Stayed 31st March 2024
