Room was decent, it was clean and everything worked well. It took a long time for the shower to get hot but that’s not really a big deal. Staff at check in and around the hotel was very nice. The property could use a good power wash or paint job. The exterior seem a bit run down /dirty. We were woken up at 6:00am by people talking full volume either in the next room or outside in the hallways, not the hotel’s fault, but beware the walls are thin and not well insulated.

The hotel was just ok. Our bathroom wasn’t clean and it made me wonder how much they really clean the place. Room service knocked on our door twice before 9:00am and woke us up…check out is noon. The bar area was cool but there was 1 bartender and about 100 customers so we left.

Pool area and grounds were beautiful but a little disappointing in the room. I just was expecting it to be more modern.

Following a totally unacceptable initial room assignment (smelled of old smoke, dirty/dingey curtains, stained carpet -- uninhabitable, save for the heartiest party animal) we returned to the front desk to speak with a different staff member (David) who graciously spent 15 minutes working with us to find an alternate room. This one was on in a courtyard and was obviously much cleaner than the first. That said, the hotel -- which is really a classic, beautiful, early 20th century landmark -- has rooms badly in need of a refresh. We've stayed here before (4-5 yrs ago) and the same issues remain -- very old, stained carpeting, peeling wallpaper, worn curtains. With having the premier location in Downtown Chandler, at full capacity that was hosting a wedding and multiple seminar/special events -- surely this facility would seem to be pulling in adequate revenue to invest back into the accommodations. Otherwise, great restaurants, bars, pool, beautifully manicured grounds and again -- a classic architectural gem in the heart of the very cool and active vibe that is Downtown Chandler.

Other than the EXTREMELY loud music when we checked in (the desk clerk said it was a Friday/Saturday thing), we enjoyed ourselves so much! Property is beautiful, staff was so friendly, and our room was just as advertised. We also really appreciated the water bottles in the room, since we come from a humid climate and yours was very dry. I was very thankfully parking was free and we LOVED that there were so many things within walking distance! The Speakeasy on the property was an absolute gem as well!!

Check in and check out were a breeze. Cleaning staff could do a better job checking and stocking basic amenities. Our room didn’t have pillows, sheets for pullout bed nor enough towels. Tissue and shampoo (in big convenient bottles) ran out on our second night. Staff at AJs were nice and attentive. Breakfast food was average.
