At first, it seemed like the Talbott was all about its location -- which is perfect for a downtown Chicago/Gold Coast experience. The important museums and fine restaurants are all within easy access. The building itself is spectacular, but the amenities in the rooms not much more than what you'd find in a Best Western Plus.
But as the experience over two days played out, it became clear that what sets the Talbott apart is its people. From the servers in the restaurant (certainly NOT a Best Western), to the front desk clerk to the doorman, the Talbott employs an attentive, professional staff that really set it apart from other hotels I've stayed at. They are what make the Talbot an exclusive hotel.
