Just the kindest owners and best place to stay in Golden. The breakfast is incredible and Ken and Lori are such thoughtful people. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Vagabond Lodge for several days in August, a short break at the end of a hot summer in Calgary. This was truly a perfect fit for us, as we are particular about where we like to stay. We travel often (pre-COVID-19) and as many travellers know, it is such a memorable experience to stay in a place that oozes “pride of ownership”. Ken and Lori are in the right business; lovely people and exceptionally gifted at all they do!!! Ken, your bread…totally outstanding and I say that as an avid sourdough baker. I enjoyed comparing notes on techniques and tips for quality ingredients. Still think that a starter must have a good name. Lol! Lori, I am still dreaming of your almond/apricot cookies…delicious! And those scones… What a find! A little oasis in Golden and we loved the fact that it was just out of the townsite…I could go on and on… Thank you for a super relaxing, welcoming stay that exceeded our expectations (and this is coming from a fussy “gourmet chef”, as my husband refers to me. Hope to be back again one day.

Friendly, good location. An afternoon wine “bar” would be a nice addition

An exceptional place to stay in every respect; starting with the hosts Ken and Lori Chilibeck. They are in this business because they love sharing the beauty of the mountains and all of the outdoor activities in the region. Most importantly, they treat every guest as if they are a visitor to their home, which in essence the lodge is. One big happy home. At the same time, there is ample space and amenities to find your quiet Zen if you wish. Ken and Lori shared with us their story of how the lodge came to be, including their extensive input into the design process with the architect. Their combined effort reflects itself in the timeless beauty of the place; vaulted ceilings, open spaces, wood beams and floors, and personal mementos that tell a story and make a business into a home. As for the accommodations; the rooms are comfortable and clean, we appreciated the surprise origami animals made from towels on the bed each day, there are books to read all over the place, and it was quiet at night. There is a sauna, hot tub, and pool table. Large fireplace and bar (in ski season). The morning breakfast spread was fantastic! We drove every day of our stay to points as far away as Jasper to hike - the region is so gorgeous that four hours in the car each day went by in no time.

Das inhabergeführte Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und wird von den Inhabern mit deren Team sehr serviceorientiert und persönlich geführt. Die Lage zum Skigebiet ist perfekt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das ausgezeichnete Frühstück mit ständig frischestem Produkten. Wir haben die vier Nächte sehr genossen.
