Place is great! Lots of nearby businesses within walking distance to eat, drink and shop.

Excellent hotel in Cumberland. Spacious, clean rooms, temperature controls that work well, and a super helpful staff. (Shout out to Richard, at the front desk, for great restaurant recommendations.) Within walking distance of lots of very good places to eat, including the unexpected terrific Uncle Jack's--a great, friendly neighborhood bar!

We had a good stay. The only complaint I have is there was water damage under the tiles in the bathroom making the room smell like mildew the entire stay.

We spent three night at the Fairfield in Cumberland, before and after a bicycle tour. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and we could open the windows a bit for fresh air. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the morning breakfast and coffee were excellent. There was even a bike-washing area outside where the hotel meets the trails.

Clean, updated and so close to Canal Place shopping and downtown restaurants. Perfect for GAP hiking and biking with bike wash and air hose. Breakfast was really good. Waffles, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, etc. Even a “make your own” trail mix station.

We loved this hotel. It is right on the GAP trail so after riding 4 days on the trail it was a welcome site. Hotel is clean and staff were friendly. Breakfast was better than most hotel breakfasts. They had mini spinach quiches the day we were they that were delish. The GAP/C&O trail runs right behind the hotel plus they have a bike repair station as you go onto the trail from the hotel. We were transported back to Homestead from the bike shop that's only a few 100 feet down the trail from the hotel. I will definitely stay here again if we visit Cumberland MD

The evening desk attendant was rude and extremely disrespectful. The hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good as well. This was all overshadowed by the the treatment we were shown by the attendant.

My experience for this property was very good, everything was clean and all staff were pleasant plus very helpful in any question or requests. Two things that kept it from being excellent was the road to reach the hotel which can be difficult depending on direction you are coming from. Second was the breakfast but that is only due to what I like to eat, not really a knock on the property - the options were much better than other hotels I have recently stayed at, so most travelers will most likely have a different opinion. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the hotel was based on other reviews, did not experience the same as others recently claimed. One thing I will point out about slamming of doors, all hotel doors have (or should have) a strong door closure for rooms based on the weight of the door, if not then the door will not fully close. Due to this, if room occupants do not assist the door closure, it will make a large slamming sound that could be confused as guests slamming their doors closed. For those riding bikes along the B&O Canal trail, this location is great since the trail is directly behind the property. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay and the canal area. Will definitely be back.
