The most wonderful position, however that is it….The rooms are very tired, tatty, and in need of a thorough refurbishment. The room I was allocated had the most awful smell, something had clearly come to an unfortunate end, and was gradually decomposing somewhere and to compound this only one of the windows opened as the others had been sealed. A hotel charging an extremely full price and delivering a distinctive sub par performance….Avoid.

Royal Golf Hotel is only a few steps down to the golf course and close to Dornoch town centre. Friendly and attentive staff, very good restaurant and comfortable lounge/bar area. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Arrived for Sunday lunch last week, stressed because of an email hitch and a forgotten password at home. Angela, the receptionist , said, Leave it to me, go and enjoy your lunch. When we were finished our(first class) lunch, Angela was ready having sorted our online problem and printed off the hotel booking we required. She refused to take a tip saying it was all part of the service. Thanks also to Jane ,quietly efficient and friendly. The whole experience a delight. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of delicious food and served in a dining area overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course. The staff were very efficient and friendly . The only difficulty I had was opening the traditional sash windows in the bedroom.

This hotel is beautiful with stunning views from the restaurant. The bedroom was very large and comfortable with tea, coffee and bottles of water provided. It is easy to walk into the centre of Dornoch from this hotel. The dinner was good although the Tofu starter needed more dressing.

Well located for trips round the far north of Scotland. A good albeit pricy restaurant, a very good bar and lounge, and excellent personable staff. The hotel boiler broke down, and the hotel gave a 20% discount in response to this crisis

Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely breakfast with a great view. Location perfect for golf and walking around the town.

Short Break and selected the 'Morris suite' spotless and comfortable. panoramic view over the famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, Beach and the Dornoch Firth. The dining room is bright with similar views and the meals were made from local produce and it showed in the taste. Lounge had a roaring fire to enjoy a refreshment chosen from a wide range thats available Staff were top notch balancing attentive without being in your face. Special call out to Sue in reception who sorted out our own self inflicted gift voucher issue. Private car park Dornoch village worth a visit and the beach is a nice walk there in a round about way and well worth doing

Loved the restaurant in this fab hotel. Great views, but also top notch breakfast. Best we have had for a while. Lovely bar area, although listening to the chefs post service discussing all the days business was a bit uncomfortable. Appreciate they need a pint to unwind after a busy night but unsure as to whether that should be in the company of guests enjoying a post meal drink. Premium hotel, so maybe not? Room was spacious, bathroom spotless and spacious.
