Just returned from a 10 night holiday in the beautiful island of Barbados. This was our first time visiting this island but we have holidayed in the Caribbean a fair amount. We stayed at Southern Palm in an ocean facing room on a room only basis. This hotel was simply perfect, very comfortable and spacious room, we stayed on first floor and had amazing view of Dover beach. Large balcony, room cleaned daily. The hotel was very clean throughout and the staff all very helpful and friendly. The bar and restaurant was very good, food and drinks very nice and competitively priced. I normally go all inclusive so had been apprehensive about room only this time, but never regretted it. There were so many lovely restaurants and cafes in St Lawrence Gap and we enjoyed every meal we had. I highly recommend the Happy Days cafe right opposite the hotel for breakfast it was excellent. We also found the Harlequin Restaurant excellent for dinner, although all restaurants we ate at were good. There’s a street food van next to Harlequin restaurant which sells lovely food if you just want a snack. A trip to Oistins fish fry is a must, loud music and very busy but a good experience. The hotel and surrounding establishments all dedicated toTurtle conversation. We witness some turtles hatching and we were able to help save some and the turtle rescue come to collect them to release in a safer environment. Also a load of turtle eggs were washed up after a storm and these were re buried with help of turtle rescue guiding guests how to help - what an experience! You swim in the beautiful waters at Dover beach, sand underfoot and Turtle swimming all around you, popping their little heads up every so often. This whole holiday was simply magical. I don’t often return to places as there is simply too many countries to explore but I think I will certainly be returning to Barbados and Southern Palms will be the perfect place to stay. I’ll be back someday .

The hotel is right on the beach with direct access from our block. We were in room 238 with our balcony overlooking the sea. The restaurant is also beach front with great views of the sunset. We found the menu a bit limited for snacks at lunchtime. All the staff were very nice and super friendly. Felt very safe at night walking around the gap.

Booked Southern Palms for a short break with friends and had a great time. Hotel is well located within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants etc... The rooms we stayed in were a little tired and some aspects of the hotel property could do with a bit of tlc. The beach is on the front of the hotel and was excellent. The hotel bar and restaurant were good, understated but the food we have there was of a good standard and service was good as well.

We had an amazing holiday here. Perfect location on the best beach on the island. Can’t fault it in any way except Wi-Fi can be dodgy. Who cares about that when you are in paradise though? Close to everything, safe at night and you can swim in the sea with turtles. The best holiday we have ever had.

This is my second time at southern palms and it was great again. The hotel is perfectly located if you want to look around the island. Oistins is a five minute bus ride away and Bridgetown is around 20 - 30 minutes the other way. There is a taxi rank out side and bus stops very close by. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars near by, we never had a bad meal all stay. The hotel is on one of the best beaches. The beach is spotless and is never full. You can swim with turtles best time is from 3pm onwards when they come closer to shore. On an evening we saw four turtles laying but never saw any hatching this time. The hotel is spotless there is an army of staff cleaning and taking care of the grounds. The rooms are pretty big and well cared for. We had a sea view overlooking the smaller pool which was a fantastic location. The children could play in the pool or go on the beach which was a stones throw from the room. The staff can’t do enough for you and all are friendly and helpful. If you are unsure of anything they take the time to answer your questions. Tea, coffee and cake at four pm is lovely and the Managers rum punch reception is worth going to as the manager and general manager take time out and speak to you. The food is lovely at southern palms we had a few meals there it is priced the same as other restaurants close by. There is also entertainment on some nights which is worth staying in for. You can exchange money at reception which has a better exchange rate than anywhere we could find in the uk. The whole family loved our stay and can not wait to come back. If you are looking for a good hotel in a good location you could not find anywhere better.

We had a wonderful time staying at this gem of a hotel. It’s in the perfect location and we had a fabulous ocean view room directly overlooking Dover Beach. Whilst our room was not overly modern this just added to its charm and had everything we needed. Bright, clean and immaculately serviced every day. Great air-con and everything where it should be (plug sockets, mirrors etc) and opening the curtains to that view every day was just magical. No mad rush for sun-beds when we were there, you could just grab one and settle down under one of the palm trees that provided adequate shade, although there were also plenty of beds by both pools. We had lunch there most days which was delicious and all the staff were always very friendly. It was our 10th wedding anniversary while we were there and we had a lovely surprise of some bubbles, card and flowers left in our room on the day which was a lovely touch. We were also able to keep our room on (for a fee) until 6pm on our last day which was very welcome. All in all a perfect stay from start to finish. We can’t wait to come back.

So....mixed bag.... The beach (which Southern Palms backs directly on to) is beautiful. Picture perfect stunning. The waitresses in the bar/restaurant area are amazing (although the bar staff themselves seem a bit miserable) There's one last (Jeanette I think her name is) on reception who is very friendly and always spoke to us with a smile, unfortunately her colleagues not so much. The rooms are basic with a few minor issues (nowhere to hang a wet towel from in the bathroom and we were given an ice bucket but no freezer area to the fridge - room 216 beware) We had a bit of an issue with our room on the last day (through no fault of Southern Palms - Virgin Holidays done a number on us....) but the faff it caused to move all of our belongings for one night was a nightmare and the receptionist at the time couldn't have been less helpful if she'd tried. It's incredibly overpriced and made worse by everything being put on your room tab and the bill not actually specifying what you're being charged for only "charge to room xxx" So trying to work it out is pointless. Lessons we've learnt are - always go half board in Barbados - the cost of food is insane..... Always stock up on some food staples you can keep in your room/fridge.

You've gotta like pink! Let's start with the good - location on the beach is excellent and easy access to other restaurants on St Lawrence Gap, and Bridgetown/Oistins are a short bus ride away. However, generally I was disappointed on a number of points: wifi availability and performance was poor, particularly in the room; they charge extra to use the in-room safe - never had this anywhere else in the world; there is a lot of night-life noise from the adjacent Chattel House bars and it's like the rooms just leak this through the doors, I may as well have been in the bar - don't expect to get to sleep before 11:30pm. Food at the hotel is acceptable but nothing special and eveything is very expensive - but that's not just Southern Palms, it applies everywhere we tried - we spent approx £1000 on food and drinks in 10 nights for 2 people and were only having 1 course meals and a couple of drinks per night (we were on a B&B package).

What a gem of a place - our first time in Barbados and this fabulous hotel was amazing! The staff are so welcoming, view from the room breath taking ! Saw turtles everyday just off the beach! Happy hour cocktails and excellent food - can not fault the place. Tucked away at the end of the gap - it is perfectly placed for nights out as well. Bottle of Prosecco courtesy of the hotel for my birthday was a classy touch - thank you - we will be back x

First time at southern palms and loved every minute of our stay there From arriving to leaving it was brilliant The staff all make you feel so welcome The food is first class The drinks are first class The rooms are spacious with all you need especially the air con after a hot day on the beach directly in front of the hotel The pool is spotless clean and cleaned every morning by Rodney The grounds and gardens are immaculate no litter or rubbish seen anywhere No chickens at southern palms while we was there but was down the beach lol All the staff are so friendly and helpful At night if your lucky turtles come in the beach to lay their eggs which we see Hotel is ideally situated for the gap and Bridgetown and all other bars and restaurants nearby See **** wasn’t to bad here it comes and goes

Well where do u start there simply isn’t enough words to say what a wonderful clean fantastic hotel with it’s friendliest staff you will ever meet From arrival with the lovely Jenny on reception and Richard transporting our bags to the best ocean view room in the hotel in the third floor to my wonderful Rodney cleaning the pool at 0600 every single morning and I’ve never swam in a pool as clean as this - the bar staff the waitresses the cleaners ( especially Danielle ) was all so happy and would do anything for us It’s right on the sands where the hawksbill turtles come and lay there eggs which we saw one night ( but ppl do need to be made aware not to go close or or scared the female away back to sea ) - the water is quite wavy but good fun of your confident - if not get a ZR bus or taxi up to Carlisle bay ( the boatyard is must ) where the water is much calmer The food at southern palms is 100% we had breakfast every morning and ate some nights too for dinner and on certain nights there’s entertainment which is brill too There was no negatives on our holiday in my opinion - and on our way back we used paradise limos and all most of the staff came out to see us to wave us off - tears was definitely falling We can’t wait to go back to this amazing hotel Thanks to the beautiful managers Kelly - Lucretia and all your staff We miss you all very much

This is our 2nd time staying here and it is still a great hotel to stay in, spotlessly clean rooms, the cleaning staff work so hard and are excellent. You are always given a warm welcome to Southern Palms by all the amazing staff, the restaurant staff are always cheerful and work tirelessly to make dining as smooth and enjoyable as it can be. The level of customer service at this hotel is the best we've ever experienced anywhere we've stayed, as I've said before the staff are exceptional and are what make this hotel worth visiting again and again, the hotel is set right on Dover beach and the beach is stunning white sands and palm trees, bliss. I just like to thank everyone at Southern Palms from Management to the Cleaning staff for helping make our stay so memorable.

We loved the beach and location of the property. We disliked that there were no umbrellas available for the beach, and the rooms looked and felt tired.

Beautiful beach and room view. Good size room and bar sink was helpful. Friendly staff and appreciated the daily afternoon tea. A bit disappointed about lack of hair conditioner in toiletries. Main purpose of trip was snorkeling. Snorkeling is quite deep in the sea. Not easily accessible unless you are a strong swimmer. Had to go to Carlile bay to do this
