The old city of Dubrovnik is literally an ancient walled city and there is no vehicle traffic allowed, it is a labyrinth of narrow passageways, steep stairways, and crowded squares. The fantastic thing about Leonarda Baroque House is that it is only about a 100 meter walk from the “Pile Gate” - which is the pedestrian entrance to the old city. If you come by taxi or bus from the airport, you just cross the street, walk through Pile Gate, and then take the short walk to the narrow side lane that the hotel is on. The hotel is on the same level as the gate, so you don’t have to lug your bags up a bunch of stairs, simply roll them into the old city and walk to the front of the hotel. It’s in a narrow lane which also has a couple of small eating and drinking places. It is very secure with an electronic key lock on the lobby and on the room, and the room has a secure safe. The decor is clean and new - everything has been refurbished and it’s very clean. Our room had a nice bed, a small seating area, and a small kitchen with everything you need to prepare and eat small meals. Even though it’s on a busy lane, it has double-paned glass windows which insulate the sound well. The A/C is a split unit and it works great. There is lots of information on the local area, and the lobby even has complimentary umbrellas to use during your stay. The lobby is not continuously staffed, but there are phone numbers to get in touch with staff any time, and the management met us on arrival. They also arranged a car and driver to meet us at the airport and bring us to the old city gate (paid the driver separately in cash) which was very helpful. We are extremely pleased that we decided to stay at this hotel - free WiFi works great, it was just a very pleasant stay. One note - it is a multilevel hotel and there is no elevator (it’s literally an ancient building) so while the owner helped with the bags, be prepared to carry them up one or more flight of stairs and to walk up the stairs to your room - this is pretty standard in the old city.
