魯艾納海灘度假村(Le Uaina Beach Resort)

Love the staff and their private beach and restaurant truly amazing experience the only hiccup is that it is miles away from everywhere but if you want a very private and peaceful location this is it and super cheap, the rooms are basic and could do with updating but otherwise it was just divine!

This hotel says it’s 20mins from the city, it’s not, so be mindful of that. It’s a long way out around the coast, there’s a little shop across the road, doesn’t sell hot food, local convenience store. You need a car to stay out this way, cave pools are right next door so that’s one bonus. This place is tired. Reception staff were amazing and very helpful. Restaurant food is very very average, you kind of have to eat there as there’s nothing at all close by! I don’t rate their food… Breakfast 7:30-9:00 included. Wait times for all good were next level LONG!

The staff were amazing and the deck overlooking the water is definitely a highlight. We stayed in 3 different rooms - lily pond, garden villa and beach side villa. The garden villas were poorly maintained and in need of some love (TVs not working, air con not working, shower head missing, insecure door locks) the other 2 were better maintained but could also do with some TLC as could the pool. Lots of positives but attention to detail with things like milk for tea and coffee and 24 hour access to drinking water, consistent shampoo and conditioner in each room (some had none some 1 of each and others 2). Great location and a comfy enough base - the staff made the whole experience.

Wonderful stay. We were a party of 6 and booked 3 different rooms. Poolside, garden villa & ocean villa. We weren’t fussed as we had the air con, a fridge to put our beverages in and a bed to sleep on. The pool was a lovely welcoming especially after a full day out in the humid weather. Swimming in the sea was however the highlight of our stay. There is a ramp easy access to the sea. I do suggest wearing reef shoes as some parts are rocky. We would definitely stay here again. 8 day stay in Samoa, wonderful experience. The Le Uaina resort was a great spot to stay. Comfortable, spacious rooms, great shower & bathroom, swimming and snorkeling right in front of the resort. Highly recommended.

Great relative small resort with friendly staff nice restaurant and in great location. We stayed for 5 nights in a ocean view room. Most definitely worthwhile. Views are amazing room is pretty comfortable. You need to car (or do deals with taxi drivers to get to all the activists approx 40 min drive away

Leuaina Beach Resort is an affordable family friendly resort on the beach. They are conveniently only a 15-20 minute drive from downtown Apia. The resort has recently added more rooms to meet demand and most with Oceanview. The Swimming Pool is large and a favourite for the kids. The resort is run by the family (owners adult children) and they are super friendly. The food is always satisfying and consistent. we visit often and will return very soon. We have to agree with lots of the comments made by other travellers lately. We stayed for a week, with 2 teen kids. The place fitted the needs of our budget and location and the staff was friendly but there was a lot of room for improvements, some of it would taken very little to fix. So you might need to adjust your expectations as the pics show everything a bit "too pretty" and it is definitely not 4 stars! 40 min drive to Apia and the same to the south coast so sort of centrally located. * Communications: We booked the 3 bedroom place via the website, then got an email 2 days later letting us know it is already booked, offering 2 bedrooms instead. Asked about bedding configuration and cost, never got an answer after 2 weeks. Then called, booked on phone, emailed multiple times for confirmation and payment details to no avail. 2 weeks before our trip, I emailed twice to ask about safe and beach towel availibility- no response at all. * The room: It was spacious and clean enough apart from hair left in shower. No hair dryer, got one from reception. Very small fridge struggling to cool our water, hot to touch on side. Light had no adapter, bed side lights not working. After booking the 2 bedroom place, we had asked about a rollaway or matress for our teen which wasn't there when we arrived, until we had asked and got it. The "safe": no key and not bolted to anything! Rubbish outside the room in the garden. No way to dry our towels or togs, had to hang everything over the very sp**** furniture. A clothes airer 30x30 cm is not enough! Despite the room being for 4 people, only 2 arm chairs and 1 dining chair, leaving the 4th person having to sit on a water bottle box. 1 coat hanger in the room and absolutely nowhere to hang it so don't bring any nice dresses! 2 cups with 1 spoon, nothing else to make any food/drinks. Nowhere to sit and play games with the family as outside was only 1 bench too (usually covered in towels drying), not even a table for a drink. We were told to sing out if we want our room serviced. We didn't need to but asked for new towels and left our bin outside after 3-4 days but then had to chase it to get it back! At the end of our stay, we were also disappointed to see that all the bottles we had kept separate for recycling ended up in the big rubbish bag... * The "grounds": Snorkelling was quite good, even at low tide and fish close to the shore. Bit of a current. The loungers: most were broken, all were filthy and could have done with a paint job. Mats must have been 20 years old. the ONE kayak leaked and looked so unsafe that even my sea-worthy guys were not keen to go further than 100m off the beach. No bikes as shown in the pictures somewhere. The pool was lovely when we arrived but on day 6 they realised it was super murky- way too late to fix it! Nobody used it on our last 2 days! Exceptionally gorgeous coastal site, however there are plenty of other 'resorts' in similarly beautiful locations, and we will be going to one of those others for our next holiday in Samoa. Le Uaina certainly does not live up to its 4 star claims. The lovely hard-working girls waiting tables in the restaurant and the guys behind the bar are constantly running damage control for the kitchen - with average wait times over an hour for meals (sometimes just to be told 'oh sorry they've run out of saschimi... or tuna) and wrong orders being common. We believe this is due to strict Samoan social hierarchy which makes it impossible for a young girl to question an older woman - let alone tell her she has cooked the wrong meal, or ask her please not to wander off before she has finished cooking all the meals ordered by the group at the table... Seeing the girls work so hard to ensure they have written everything down - then re-checking - then still being sent out with wrong meals is heart-breaking. Pretty ordinary food and small portions when it does arrive too. Getting our room serviced wasn't as easy as asking once. The TV never worked despite swapping bits and pieces between fales, not that we cared but other people might, and if its in the room in a 4 star resort it should work. The onsite manager Fred studied at Uni in Auckland and the offsite owner still lives in Auckland.. so I am sure they are fully aware of the expectations of Kiwi holiday makers paying good money for their holidays - so this grizzle is certainly not aimed at the local workers at this resort. Last but not least, numbers of kittens and pregnant cats living at Le Uaina suggests the control of cat numbers is being left to devices 'other' than neutering. Staff told me there had been nine kittens in the last litter - we saw only three, and they took off whenever the two big dogs that also live there showed up. Come on guys, you know your guests from NZ (or anywhere really..) don't want to think or worry about that sort of thing. Get your cats fixed. Its not hard. Oh, and your pools need a clean every day, they were nice and clean after the Australian guy David did them for you (in between his picking up bags of rubbish along your frontage) so it would be nice for your future guests if they were kept that way so as to be as inviting as they look in your promotional photos.
