貝南根鐘樓旅館YHA(Bellingen Belfry Guesthouse)

This is a fantastic guesthouse with a well equipped communal kitchen. Everything is clean and well kept. Staying at the Belfry is like staying at a friend’s place. The staff were mostly tourists themselves on long term visit passes. We found them very friendly and helpful. My fellow guests were all very interesting with stories to tell as we sit in the verandah overlooking beautiful surrounding forests. If you come to Bellingen then this is the best place to stay at.

Rustic and charming … Room was adequate. The mixed areas are relaxed and comfortable , making it easy for guests to interact . Great stop over !

The Belfry Guesthouse in Bellingen is a charming retreat. The rooms are clean and there is a wraparound balcony complete with hammocks that captures the stunning valley. There was never any problem using the shared bathrooms. There was always one available and they were clean and spacious. The guesthouse is centrally located. The hosts were lovely including the retirees from Ireland (the lovely David and Mags) who were working there on a workaway experience. A delightful stay that captures the essence of Bellingen's warmth and character.

The rooms are clean. The guesthouse is nicely organized and friendly staff. I wasn’t aware that a guest house is similar to a hostel. This is like a hostel for families and older travellers. Was lovely.

For the price and convenience in location, it was ok. Friendly staff and quirky common spaces which were nice.

How you qualify this back packers as a four star hotel is beyond me. The only thing that is NOT communal was my bedroom, but even that smelt like the bed linen, pillows and doona had come straight off some sweaty body and put into a doona cover. The toilets, bathroom sinks, showers, kitchen, lounge everything shared. The whole place could do with a good clean, every surface is covered in dust, grime and the communal mixed sex bathroom enjoys the “pleasures” of your fellow guests hair on the shower screen and god knows what else. There is a smell of uncleanliness pervading the entire indoor area. It is the place I have felt the least safe, as a single female traveller, in the last 10 years. This isn’t the backpackers problem, but having some drunk person vomit literally outside your bedroom window and listening and putting up with the local residents lining the recycling bins outside the same window is deeply unpleasant. Let’s not even talk about not a single guest wearing a mask in common indoor areas, whilst Covid restrictions are still in place and absolutely everything is intended to be shared. The receptionist was nice, the views from the communal wrap around balcony are lovely. There’s an area of that balcony though that looks like it’s about to collapse and should probably be taped off as a hazard. I’m trying to find redeeming features but it’s hard going. The mattress were squishy, the pillows lumpy and as mentioned smelt sweaty (I ended up not using them, and sleeping
