I feel for the staff of this hotel. Each person we interacted with was so friendly and kind - but they are battling an ageing building and a substandard provision. For example, the housekeeping person had left us some biscuits with their card - but only one packet for two people. The room was clean but so tired - poorly maintained with marks all over the walls and the bath. A gap in the wall had been repaired and painted a slightly different colour! Only one plug socket on one side of the bed. Tea and coffee is the lowest possible quality and frankly was grim. I was most surprised by the posters all over the hotel saying ‘please rate us more than an 8/10 so the team get recognition’ - seems a really strange way of recognising staff that HI are willing to beg for my praise?! In all, it was fine, really just a bed and a shower but can’t help thinking HI would enable these brilliant staff with more inves**ent in the little touches that would have made me much more satisfied with my stay.
