Excellent food, stunning surroundings in the Drakensberg mountains.

The setting of the Cathedral Peak Hotel in the Drakensberg is unbeatable matched only by the comfort of the hotel itself. It’s a big hotel - more than 100 rooms - yet we never felt crowded. The food, served buffet-style, was great; well-prepared and tasty. The many walks , both long and short, from the hotel into the mountains provide a wide variety of routes for every level of hiker. We had a great stay and would highly recommend the hotel for anyone looking to experience the magnificence of the mountains.

Even though our stay at Cathedral Peak was only three nights, it felt like a much longer holiday, full of walks, delicious meals, quiet early mornings and wonderful scenery. Highly recommended, particularly if you can persuade the staff to light the fires in the bar and dining-room to complement the cold, misty weather we had.

We paid R85 upfront for power outages but nobody explained the lack of power for hours during the Easter Weekend.Total darkness at times.poorly prepared.1tiny led on the first night.improved later.each room given two tea light candles and a box of matches.Took it back the next day but darkness at 6 to 8 pm continued.No management member in sight.Sadly the restaurant staff were dealing with irate people.Vast menu but bland and not great.slap/dash tea accompaniments A DISAPPOINTING WEEKEND COSTING R14780 fir 3 nights.....no refund for darkness

An absolute disgrace. 30 years behind the curve, arrogance due to location. No power no service total reliance on their past history. Do everyone a favour and sell to a hotel group that can leverage its potential. Old family holding onto an asset they can’t maintain

Staff were friendly•The room was comfortable. Bathroom shower area was mouldy. Long Power outages despite being charged a R85 load shedding levy. Food was ok- - food not prepared well. Overall experience was just above average , wasn’t value for money

I cannot count the times I have visited Cathedral Peak Hotel - everything from position, accomodation, facilities, variety of hiking trails to superb food is outstanding. Best of all, a single pensioner pays a much reduced price to stay in a double room!
