南郡(South Shire)

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour. Très belle maison, beau grand balcon . Belle chambre. Le personnel est attentionné , souriant , le coin est tranquille. N’hésitez pas essayer le restaurant thaïlandais sur place ! Exquis

Schickes historisches Hotel, jedoch so historisch, dass einige Zimmer keinen WiFi-Empfang haben. Jedoch war das Hotelpersonal so flexibel, ein Zimmer mit Internetzugang zu vergeben.

This historic house was quite comfortable for one night. Be advised the main stairway takes you up to the rooms and and there are several odd steps between levels. Our double queen room, with its classically sloping floors, had its own bath/shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast didn't start until 8am, but was delicious, healthy and balanced nutritionally. (We were there on a Wednesday morning, when the closest breakfast cafe was closed.) South Shire is just a block off the main street of restaurants and shops.

We stayed at South Shire for 3 nights as a get away. The room was very relaxing with a fireplace (Duralogs were provided each night). The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. Conversations were interesting, informative, and enjoyable. We would recommend South Shire. It was a great location also. We easily toured the Shires over the 4 days we were there.

We decided to tour Vermont and take in a couple of days at Bennington. We liked the look of South Shire so tried it. It was the best decision of on our trip. First and most importantly was the hospitality of the owner, Joe Polito. His welcome was fantastic and the service that was provided was nothing but exemplary. Talking to Joe, he let us know that he'd gained experience in Asia with Aman and Oberoi groups which certainly showed... not only was he charming but there were little touches that made the difference. I think "one of a kind" in Bennington is the English Afternoon Tea... a great treat, not to be missed. If staying in Bennington I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here. We did not regret it... you will really enjoy it.

A beautiful place, great room with a working fireplace and a jetted tub, super clean! The breakfast was superb with fresh fruit and special entrees each day. The owner, Joe and his mom, were friendly, knowledgeable, and great hosts. It was our first time there and we couldn’t have been happier!

This place is worth a stay, with its collection of trinkets and books from around the world adding a unique charm to the inn. The host is very welcoming. Even with a late-night arrival, the handover was seamless. However, the bed in The Wentworth room is quite short, so much so that my 6'1" (185cm) tall partner had to sleep diagonally, and the hot water in the bathroom was intermittent. It's disappointing that these two significant drawbacks marred what was otherwise a meticulously decorated boutique inn.

Fantastic stay at the South Shire Inn, everything was above and beyond comfortable. We stayed in the Carriage House out back in the Coach Room and enjoyed the fireplace and the comfy queen bed. Joe our host was accommodating to all our needs and breakfast was delicious. Much, much, more comfortable and enjoyable than a hotel.

Quiet and safe area. Beautiful old home. The furnishings were quit old but in excellent condition. The home was original, nothing in the architecture was compromised.
