This old hotel in a small Lincolnshire town is a real find we have been travelling to nearby Newark for thirty years, yet this was our first and by no means we hope last trip to the Angel and Royal. What impresses us the most is how well trained helpful and friendly the staff are. There were also plenty of them.

It was central and convenient for our needs. Our room was very large and well appointed. The facilities were good and we were able to meet up easily with our friends. There was a some road noise very early morning and possibly as it was an old building there was no double glazing!

Was really impressed with this hotel - it was clean, modernised and although I only stayed a very short while, you could tell the staff would be willing to go above and beyond. What impressed me most was the size of the room - it was so spacious. The beds were really comfy too! The only downside was the water was luke-warm when I tried to run a bath.

For me the rooms are dated and being put in a disabled room, just because I needed twin beds was not great. If I am in an annex and not the main hotel I want to be made aware when booking.

Very clean & tidy overall for the areas I saw inside, friendly reception & other staff. The courtyard area was tidy but looks in need of a spruce up. Great area in central Grantham to be staying in.

It is a lovely hotel, the staff are all local and keen to help/assist we had a few drinks in the bar (which isn't big but is lovely and snug), before having fabulous meal

Very nice historic hotel (second oldest in the UK)! Incredible breakfast room with old wall mostly intact from 1203. Nicely renovated, large rooms with all modern conveniences.

Lovely place to stay, no hot water unfortunately for two days. I had to go to another hotel for a shower/bath.

Great little hotel, you have everything on your doorstep in terms of shops and bars & restaurants if staying in Grantham. Reasonably priced & a nice comfy bed. I liked the historical aspect of the building as well.

A convenient and well located hotel with lovely period features

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel and at a great price, I just wish I could get it again at that price 😃 the staff were great 😊

Everything is lovely. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys history, Royal environment and best British food, and Gin & Tonic

GREAT PLACE TO STAY ,ONLY PROBLEM WAS WHAT SOUNDED LIKE NOISY CHILDREN MESSING AROUND VERY LATE AT NIGHT OUTSIDE.
