赫伯朗旅館(The Houblon Inn)

My Fiance proposed to me here back in October 2020 and we'd had the most beautiful stay, that we couldnt wait for Covid to calm down to come back and stay again! We came and stayed in March (apologies for only just now doing our review!) and the whole experience was absolutely faultless! Nearly a three hour drive from where we live, but the distance is worth every second... Upon arrival we received such a warm welcome from the owners Jon and his wife, Vicky. Jon also recognised us as returning guests from our previous engagement visit, which made it even more lovely. Our room was so beautiful. Very spacious, spotless and with great little touches. Fully stocked mini-bar, 2 bathrooms (!), huge telly that pulls out at the wall which you can angle toward the bed... even the artwork in the room is unique! We spent the afternoon drinking from the very extensive bar, before our evening meal in the restaurant. Hands down one of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten at a hotel restaurant. Jon goes above and beyond to make sure you always have everything you could possibly need. We really felt like royalty. After our beautiful food, we returned to the room to get changed to use our private outdoor hot tub (which Jon had kindly given us a rundown of beforehand upon check-in). Lit up with fairy lights and underwater lights, underneath a wooden pergola frame, it is the perfect place to come and unwind, even if just for one night. We even had access to disposable spa slippers which we could wear to and from the hot tub area! Breakfast, again, faultless. I requested boiled eggs which is not on the menu as it is my favourite breakfast, and nothing was too much trouble. My Fiance thoroughly enjoyed his cooked breakfast too. We truly did not want to leave, and can say without a doubt that it is one of the best places we have ever had the pleasure of staying. The service and attention to detail from the owners makes you feel so thoroughly looked after and we cannot wait to come back! We'd stay for a week if we could! What a fantastic place , rooms modern clean and well maintained with a bonus private hot tub ! The service was second to none , the food was restaurant standard super quality. The breakfast was the best I’ve had in any star of hotel. Room 3 was excellent, I didn’t use the mini bar but the choice of having it was a nice edition. I will definitely return

What a fantastic place, set in a fantastic grade 2 listed building. The room was 1st class with everything to hand you could wish for. We chose to eat in the restaurant during our stay, we had a dinner and lunch sitting as part of our stay. I can honestly say it was the best restaurant food I have ever had. The owners are passionate to use local produce which to me speaks volumes. Jon and VIcky (hope I spelt it correctly) was fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The staff was also polite and tendered to any of our needs. Thanks again for a very memorable stay.

Have a really nice stay was very welcoming on arrival the staff will do anything to help you breakfast was amazing we went to the bar for some drinks was a nice relaxing and cosy atmosphere you get your own private hot tub which is lovely the room was nice and clean and very comfortable can’t say anything bad about this place have booked to go back!

Superb place to stay and eat. Restaurant and accommodation spotlessly clean. Food top class. Very friendly staff Surroundings have ambience Pillows and mattress very comfortable Highly recommend for luxurious night out

Very nice, reasonably priced but could be really special with a few tweaks. Room & bathroom were nice but not not stocked as they should be ( had to ask for shampoo, shower gel & standard tea bags which were all missing). Main building is lovely & full of character slightly chaotic but that’s probably down to staff shortages. Food was good and reasonably priced although I was disappointed with dessert which was poorly executed & over priced. I had tarte tatin which was very small, had hardly any apple slices & was lacking the caravel that makes the dish in-fact the apples hadn’t been caramelised at all. As is the rooms are reasonably priced but with a little more care & a quality control across the board they could easily increase room prices by 50%. +/-.

Stayed for 3 nights for our mini moon following our wedding on 20th December. This was our second stay. Lovely welcome and very comfortable stay in room 4. Excellent food throughout and very friendly staff. Hot tub an added bonus. We have booked to stay again for our anniversary in December 2024! A lovely escape which was just what we needed to relax before Christmas.

Not to sure where to start with my review of Christmas Lunch… On arrival we had a very warm welcome by the hosts of The Houblon Arms, served Buzz’s Fizz or OJ as a NA alternative. The food was absolutely amazing, starting with a classic slate of canapés. Starters were beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The main dish was served with a variety of fresh vegetables on the plate, alongside additional vegetables. Dessert was incredible and was followed by mince pies, tea & coffee. No one was rushed, the whole meal was impeccably served by a family team who were attentive while not being intrusive. Anyone wanting an amazing Christmas Day lunch experience in 2024, I can wholeheartedly recommend The Houblon Arms and the family team…

We stayed here as we had a wedding nearby and all I can say is wow! The room is absolutely stunning and the service provided is next level! We had breakfast and it was so good! The food quality and presentation plus the service provided by Deano was outstanding! I work in customer service in a customer facing role for an airline and his standards are what is expected of me in a first class cabin. We can’t wait to return in the summer just for a stay as we loved it that much! Thank you!
