埃斯克代爾酒店(Eskdale Hotel)

We spent 2 nights at this pleasant hotel situated on the A7. Its location is great for accessing the Scottish Borders, and a good stop off if, like us, you have travelled up from southern England. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our room was clean, toasty warm(temperature outside was chilly), and had a nice en suite bathroom with plenty of instant hot water.The bed was very comfortable. There are two bars and a dining room. I would recommend booking meals as it is a popular eating out place for the locals. I had honey glazed salmon for dinner and enjoyed it so much I had the same on the second evening. My partner had a nicely cooked battered haddock and chips. We went for a pleasant stroll along the river which is just a few minutes walk away. We were particularly taken by the friendliness of the locals, every person we passed smiled and said hello. Summing up, a very pleasant stay

Lovely hotel excellent attentive friendly staff. Welcoming and caring.Smartly dressed throughout Room was excellent Comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and Chloe the waitress couldn’t do more to help. Highly recommended A must to visit

A one night stay in a warm , comfortable and clean king sized bedded room. Staff were helpful and efficient. Breakfast choices were varied and with freshly cooked hot food. Equally there were a wide variety of evening meals on offer and the steak and ale pie was delicious. The cheesecake was very good too.

A lovely town centre hotel located on the high st in Langholm. Good parking at the rear of the hotel. Quaint building with a number of lounges and bars. Very friendly staff and management. Excellent food and drink offering and service was first class. Overall a lovely hotel, would stay again.

A very clean hotel with very friendly staff. The food was fine and portions were good. The room was well appointed with a decent sized bathroom. The bed was very soft and the town clock chimed a lot of the night although they did supply ear plugs !

We had a family meal, 10 people in the restaurant on New Years Day and without exception everyone had an amazing experience The food was excellent the service was faultless and the hotel was warm so welcoming Thank you so much for making our start to 2024 such a wonderful experience

Excellent service, food and drink. Friendly a**osphere, clean and comfortable. I stay here regularly for business as it is so convenient. The team, run by owners John and John, always remember me. Langholm is a beautiful rural town supporting local business and community. The common riding event is unmissable as are the walks. I particularly enjoy a morning jog down the River Esk Followed by a hearty Eskdale breakfast.

Modest aspirations yet well executed, this is a lovely hotel with a high finish and punching above its weight. Good bed, bathroom, dining room, bar areas. Friendly and efficient staff and service, although there were some issues with confirmation of booking through ***********... resolved by a phone call to me in response to my direct email. Bravo, person to person interaction, not machine... how refreshing! Food is good, fairly imaginative and well executed; breakfast was better than expected.

I went here with my partner for a meal and possibly a few drinks only to be met by the man behind the bar who was very offstandish. Firstly it wasn’t even that late and we asked about food he said if you hurry up and order I will see what I can do? We then ordered drinks which would be our first and only drink, when the food did arrive he stood the whole time at the bar talking which I would not have minded only I had in mind a nice meal and conversation with my partner which didn’t occur as the whole time the staff member at the bar talked throughout our whole meal. I could not believe the slur which came out of his mouth which was clearly directed at me as a woman! He said the food had been cooked by a male member of staff and also that seem as though my partner was male he would be a great cook when asked how this was so his comment was ‘that is because he is male?’ Which was highly offensive towards me as a woman! He then said at least 3 times google top 10 chefs I can guarantee they’re male! I ended up saying to him I’m not that interested about who is in the top 10 as I only came for food and drinks not to be made to feel highly inadequate for being female! He then went on to say it’s not been disclosed about the whole cost of the queens funeral well what has that got to do with anything? My partner then said well does it matter how much? She is the queen and served our country all her life!! He made us both feel so uncomfortable with us derogatory comments due to this I won’t be returning to this establishment as his comments were wholly unnecessary and totally unacceptable towards myself as a woman. We then left and went over the road to a public house which was the only one open at the time where we were made to feel so welcome by the locals. The member of staff in question certainly needs to brush up on his people skills and choose his audience when speaking like this in public as I did not like the manner in which he referred to women as being inferior! Clearly making a number of managerial decisions which is clearly loosing this business a lot of money which isn’t good in this day and age.
