It's a very nice hotel, located in the center of the city. Beautiful design, the rooms are pleasant. The breakfast is good. Those who come with a car are advised not to park in the parking lot below the hotel, because it is expensive. We camped in a parking lot within walking distance (of course after dropping off our luggage at the hotel) on Geest Street 1. We had a less pleasant experience, our daughter felt sick, and they had no idea where to refer us and we were even sent to the emergency which turned out to have been closed for 3 years. So only health, and enjoy.
checking into a hotel, one would typically expect a welcoming sense of hospitality and warmth - at the very least. I did not feel that way with the ladies behind the reception desk. 1. Upon entering room, the bedsheets were sloppy, untidy and scruffy. This lack of care and attention to detail already spoke volumes to me about the hotel's take on caretaking and thoughtfulness of its service. 2. so no surprise then, that I later called the reception from the room to ask if they could loan me an international adaptor, to which they FIRST said I had to collect it myself at reception, and then LATER was quick to sing to a different tune by saying they had none left after I prompted them further and asked them politely why they couldn't send it to my room. 3. On my second day of accommodation, housekeeping knocked on my door - to which I jovially said out loud, 'no thank you until I check out.' The knocks came intermittently for another 6 times with 20-30 mins interval - until I had to get out of the bathroom to put the 'do not disturb' sign at my door. A little extreme with efficiency but, I mean, I kept saying it every other 20-30 mins, so I hardly think they needed the actualy door sign to get my point to begin with. Anyway, this major annoyance occurred the next day in the same fashion as well. All in all, great location for a hotel but the staff definitely need lots more training on the true QUALITY and PROFESSIONALISM of genuine HOSPITALITY. This is afterall, part of the IHG band so, my stay here this round was a definite disappointment.
This modern hotel has a split personality. Some elements rate 5 star some 0 or minus. My wife and I stayed for three nights in their only disabled access room in June, it costs about 200 euros per night excluding breakfast. We were delayed arriving so didn't check in until around 2300. Check in staff were very good and we went up to our room. It had been made up (maybe?) but not cleaned! Excretia in the toilet bowl, bits of second hand toothpaste in the sink (which was blocked up). Complained to the night porter who came up to the room just after midnight as was genuinely embarrassed. But, the hotel was full and this was the only accessable room in the hotel! The room was given a quick clean to get us through the night. The following morning met by the very good manager who again apologised cancelled the nights charge from the bill (we paid in advanced) and said he would rectify the situation. He (Jimmy) was ashamed and seemed quite frankly shocked. We went out for the day and came back to a very clean room. On our 2nd and final full day the room was not made up at all, beds not made, no towels no toilet roll coffee etc. Again complained to the two very nice young women on reception who were very nice and very apologetic. It was our last night and were given a free (and very good breakfast). Serving manager and staff could not have been more helpful. So, great location, really great staff, great breakfast, awful, awful housekeeping (apparently sub contracted out). Should you stay in the Mercure Den Hague? You choose! Incidently, I said I was going to put a review out and Jimmy the manager said ” You must be truthful”.
Room (upgrade received as HHonors Diamond member) was very clean and spacious as was the hotel and corridors in general. Executive lounge has a nice terrace and offered a very good variety of food during happy hour. Breakfast buffet is rich and of very good quality. The breakfast room can be very busy but guests can also use additional seating in the adjacent bar, so this is not a problem. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk away from the Binnenhof. Overall one of the best Hilton hotels we have stayed so far.
訪訪客I love Novotel as a chain, and have stayed at this hotel before and was quite happy. This time I felt things were a little off and I wasn't as satisfied. I seem to recall getting a free bottle of water in the room, which it appears is not included anymore. No more individual shower gels and soaps, but now big pumps of soap, which is OK if you have the complete set of them. Yes, it's more environmentally friendly but it's also a sign of cost-cutting. Breakfast was more or less the same -- good choice and quality -- except on a busy weekend they seemed totally overwhelmed and people had to queue to get a table. On a quieter morning, I noticed a sign stating one can request omelettes and poached eggs from the kitchen, so I did, and this dish never materialized, which was a little awkward. The fresh orange juice machine is awful: constant noise and queues of people taking ages to each make one glass of juice, as it requires that the user slice the orange and then ram each half, one at a time, into the machine, yielding a tiny amount of juice. Repeat for 6 or 7 oranges to get a glass... It would be funny to watch as slapstick if it weren't so annoying to listen to. On the positive side, the rooms are still attractive, comfortable, and quiet.
訪訪客Super leuk hotel. waren er vroeg maar mochten gewoon inchecken om 12.30 uur. Hadden wellicht geluk dat de kamer vrij was. Gratis super lekkere koffie. Bed was heerlijk, wel wat klein. Top locatie.
訪訪客Fabulous hotel, walkable from the station, half hour Hotel rooms were spacious, bed matresses were the best I have found and so was the pillows. The staff were incredible helpful.Lovely surroundings and fabulous shops in nearby ”Passage” The breakfastwas fabulous, with pastries and ham/cheeses and coffee machine. Lovely bread. The reception area had comfortable seating with delicious coffee/tea available all day, unlike many hotels. Close to all the sights
訪訪客Hotels being incredibly expensive in the Hague, we went for the Best Western as we knew the standard. The room was very small. The sink was outside the bathroom - quite strange. So you had 2 waste bins in the room and none in the bathroom. The bed was excellent. The pillows small but larger ones were provided on request. The shower was really good and so too were the towels. Great to have car-parking on site at a reasonable price. Local taxis were surprisingly cheap!
