格羅夫納旅館(Grosvenor Guest House)

They accepted my booking, I then travelled 3 hours to stay there. I rang on the doorbell, no answer. I rang the number, no answer. I messaged on Airbnb, no answer. I emailed, an answer! Two sentences, heavy typos saying they wouldn't let me in and refusing to offer any money back. It left me on the street that night and looking at other reviews here and on Google I can see I'm not the only person this has happened to. Avoid this place at all costs, they are con artists.

DO NOT STAY HERE - the owner is dishonest and has charged us twice. Payments are processed by the property guaranteed by a credit card. The price was £210 upon booking with ***********. We were charged £240 when checking in and then online payment was taken when we checked out. Three weeks later and no refund or contact from the owner, and *********** seem unable to do anything about it either. BE WARNED.

The scariest and dirtiest place I have ever been in my entire life. nails on the bedside table. dust everywhere, and a heavy smell of smoke in the shower, probably someone before smoked in the shower. to cover the smell a chemical perfume it’s been used so I couldn’t breathe. a young woman opened the door (she even didn’t check who I was) and for all the time she talked to me she was digging in her nose with a finger. nobody told me anything about how to go in and out, how to use the front door and how to check out. Horror movie

Very disappointed with this guest house. Completely let us down at the last minute, almost left us without accommodation for our trip, and the place we did end up staying was £50 a night (almost 2x) more expensive. There was an issue with a booking website (not Tripadvisor) which, due to an error with my card, ended up in the booking being cancelled. This was of course not the B&B's fault but I messaged them as soon as I found out and they advised IN WRITING that it was all ok and that they DEFINTELY had a room booked for us. When I called them on the day of arrival to double-check, they advised that they had no record of the booking, and they were full. The person I spoke to (presumably the landlady) made a whole host of excuses and essentially tried to make the whole thing out to be our fault - this being despite the fact that we had confirmed the booking with them. The whole attitude was shocking - completely unhelpful and dismissive of the situation they had put us in. Prices at the point had gone up to 3x the original booking price and we almost had to completely cancel our trip. Please don't trust these people. It might just cost you a lot of money.

We stayed in that guest house for 2 nights. The location is excellent just 3 minutes walking to the centre. The room in regards to the size and service was good. Unfortunately I have to say that the room and above all the bathroom were so dirty and this made me very uncomfortable. That's a pity as I paid £140 for a double room.

I booked 2 nights through ******* in this sort of guest house more similar to a community center. I arrived at 1.30pm and no one opened the front door. I tried to call but the phone was out of order. I wrote 3 emails telling the owner that I was out there but no response. It was 2.30pm and I was out there waiting but nothing. I saw a neighbor who advised me to knock on the basement door where the owner of the guest house lives. Nothing. Hours passed, it was 3pm and finally the lady (drunk and otherwise...) opened the door of her house telling me to look for another place to stay. I explained to her that I have already paid to *******. She then told me to come back in 1 hour. At 4pm I came back and she tried to give me a very dirty room with the bed still to be made. The window was broken, I changed room. Even worse. It was 4.30pm and I'm tired, so I helped her make the bed. I cleaned the bathroom because she was not in a position to do it. The room key could not be found (it was open when I arrived). I changed room again. There was no hot water. At 5.30pm. I decided to leave. The lady was happy. I called ******* who was unable to do anything, they promised me a ticket in 72 hours. ******* never again. Incompetent. I found another accommodation. Be careful!!!! Unfortunately I discovered late that many have had the same problem. She's dishonest. She continues to leave his Guest House on Booking and ******* but it is no longer a place to frequent. A mess everywhere. Blood stained sheets, dirt from catching diseases, disgusting! I cannot describe the room and the bathroom. I've never ever seen something like this. Now I'm waiting for a fully refund from ******* who however was not able to sort it out. People don't go to this guest house. It's a scam!

Do not stay at this place please it’s shocking when to stay in this place on may 25 to 27 got there the woman answered the door and said can we go back in half an hour? Got there in half an hour? Other people are knocking on the window she was in bed drunk then she got up open DOORS upstairs room there’s people in she said I’ve got the wrong keys and went back downstairs and never come back out again she when to bed some people had paid we were lucky we didn’t but we had to go To Eastbourne to get an hotel and we We’re going to a festival on Easter so it cost us £85 there and back in cab so please do not stay there

This place needs to be either taken over or shut down. I arrived at the property and there was no one there, the contact number for the business doesn't work so it was impossible to get hold of the owner. I sent an email but there was no response either. I called the other guest house on the same street to see if they knew the owner, after 45 minutes of walking around, knocking on the neighbours' door, and calling the other place, I found out she lives in the basement. I knocked and knocked and there was no response. I was parked outside the property and sat in my car for a further 15 minutes looking up other places to stay when I luckily saw a man come from the basement! I jumped out my car and he got the owner. I explained that i'd booked a room for 3 nights and have been waiting for an hour, and knocking on her door. She didn't apologise. I wasn't even sure if she knew i was arriving, she said she couldn't access her emails because her phone was stolen, i regret asking how, someone broke into the property and stole it. You can imagine how safe i felt then! She then told me that she hadn't received any money from me, she asked me who i had paid and that I need to call ******* to find out who the money was sent to, I was not going to do her job for her. I showed her the bank transaction and the confirmation emails i had been sent, she then proceed to ask me to pay her for a nights stay and she will come to see me the next day, i refused as i had already paid. She gave me a key to my room, and i stayed for 2 nights and never saw the owner again.

I only stayed at The Grosvenor 2 nights. I didnt find the guest house as advertised. There were weeds growing on the outside steps. The room was so so. The toilet in the bathroom was only held to the floor with one bolt. I think carpeting could have been shampooed. The proprietor was pleasant enough.
