外門旅館(The Outgate Inn)

This place came recommended to us from the bar staff at The Queen's Head Hawkshead as they were fully booked. Most of these reviews say the food was great, let me write a perfectly honest one... The food was probably some of the worst I have ever eaten, infact Wetherspoons food is better than here (and that's saying something) We had 2 burgers which just tasted weird. The chicken burger had an odd smell and the coleslaw was horrible. The sloppy joe burger chilli was horrible it was dry and definitely wasn't fresh. We only ate half of our food and left the rest. Don't bother coming here for food, I certainly will never return.

Lovely pub, very friendly staff, you were made to feel very welcome. The food was delicious, my husband and I both had the lamb, it was gorgeous just melted in the mouth, followed by a lovely Bakewell tart and apple and sultana rice pudding topped with crumble for hubby. Would definitely recommend and if we are ever in the area again we would make a return visit. Thank you

Outstanding food and outstanding welcome. Recommend the liver duo. Chef who’s all over his food and menu. Will be back. Tried the Liver duo, burger, fish and some kids meals, nothing left at the end.
