The Belize Collection does very well with the floor plans and amenities in the suites with the plunge pools - but there so many details are overlooked that undermine the overall experience that really, you're paying for the private plunge pool (which is great) and the location (which is also great). For example, you order room service, but there is no place to comfortably eat a meal in the suite. The front porch is a bit better for room service because at least there is a cocktail table, but if you leave your tray outside for housekeeping to collect at 3:00pm, don't be surprised to see birds eating the crumbs when you wake up in the morning. The food is hit or miss, and not cheap. The worst was the very loud construction project in the restaurant that continued well into dinner time with the workers using lighted drills so they could see well enough to keep working while we're spending $100US for dinner. The Paddle House is definitely convenient. The breakfast was delightful, and they did a very good citrus fish filet - but a vegetarian entree was served so cold that it seems like it was made the day before and nobody stirred the noodles in the microwave. Best to take a taxi into town and have a more authentic Hopkins experience. The front desk is very helpful at helping with these arrangements. The whole staff is helpful and eager to please, but it seems like Jaguar Reef is a training ground for recent grads from hospitality school. Everyone expects service to be on beach time, but you should have to repeatedly flag down waiters to get more water, especially when there are only a few other people in the restaurant. It's easier to walk up to the bar and order your own drink that to find someone on the wait staff when you're paying the prices the Paddle House charges. I read enough reviews that said booking snorkeling trips could be unreliable through the front desk, so we used a local dive shop that was just a five minute walk away. They were great. Also - you can get from the Dangriga airport using a local transportation service for half the price. We've stayed at Sleeping Giant as well as Jaguar Reef, and both times we've asked ourselves the question: Swanky or Janky? Again, the floor plan is good, and the private plunge pool is a distinct treat. Very likely, the homes in the gated communities that they advertise as you walk into the reception areas have great floor plans too. I had to wonder if they were as interested in selling little houses to American and Canadian retirees as they are in selling hotel rooms at a certain price point. I still don't understand why they put the towel bar for the whole bathroom in front of the sink so that I had to stand on my tip toes and bend over 6" of towels to brush my teeth, and the plants in the courtyard by the pool had not been tended well. The little tree made a decent drying rack, another overlooked detail which would have been helpful a beach resort. They definitely needed a fan to circulate t
