There are strong painting smell in our first room 210 and also the room we were moved to - 415. The smell was so strong that I was choked at night and woke up by the smell 4-5 times. I was traveling with a one year old and my pregnant wife and in retrospect, it probably was be my worst decision in my life to stay here for one night. Upon checking out, no apology, no sympathy, simply ‘I will let my manager know’ from the agent. I would rather let the manager know here on my own. On the next day, elevator was completely down and people had to use the service elevator which took forever to come. Service was terrible as well. We were promised 2pm checkout by Jay upon checkin. Because of their fault of not putting the note of promised time under reservation, we were advised that 2pm late checkout is not available on the checkout day. Wow… what a joke. Cleanliness is a top concern. You can experience stains, oily spots, dusty vents and foul smell all over the place. Evan at the Toast was amazing however, the restaurant was leased out so this hotel doesn’t deserve the credits. All in all, the Marriott Coronado Resort is 1000 times better than this one. I immediately cancelled our next reservation here and will never come back. If a hotel cannot offer basic cleanliness and clean air to its guests’ stay, it should close.

Earlier this month, Pier South Resort hosted the 20th High School Reunion for Mar Vista High. The event was booked 10+ months in advance with Events Manager, Luis Borbon. From the first meeting with Luis to the day of the event, he was very communicative, hospitable, and attentive to the needs and requests from the planning committee. We booked the rooftop which provided amazing sunset views and unforgettable scenery. Of course, the sunset was perfect for some stunning photos. We had a DJ for our event and Luis took time to provide the DJ with suggestions from previous events for what has worked and what hadn’t. The venue was wonderful, and the event was a smashing success thanks to the Pier South staff. It was also a pleasure working with Toasted’s Kitchen Manager, Jennifer. She ensured that the bar and food was impeccable and that all guests were taken care of. The bartender, Erica, was friendly and professional and even assisted us by taking several of the group photos. I can say for certain we will be coming back to book the next high school reunions, for our experience was beyond what we asked for and what we were expecting.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Pier South Resort. The views of the beach are breathtaking and the rooms are so comfortable and spacious. The location of the hotel is ideal also because there is so much to do within walking distance. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. Our favorite dining option that we tried was Toasted which is in the hotel. The Salmon Toast with Jalapeno Cream Cheese was amazing! The staff was very kind as well, especially Ronnell Jones at the Front Desk.

I had a fabulous weekend staying with my family for my daughter’s birthday celebration. We enjoyed the complimentary guest bikes, the pool, social hour and a very clean room. Thank you for an excellent service and hospitality. We are definitely coming back, for another memorable weekend.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. It’s not in the best area and it looks rundown. The room itself was large and nice enough, but it was billed as a balcony view of the pier which I thought would be facing the ocean, you can see partial ocean, part of the pier, if you can look past the parking lot and building next-door. So not quite what I expected and seeing as paying top dollar to be able to have a view of the ocean, was more than disappointing. Also had some issues on check-in, have always booked this along with my husband, but because he was delayed with his flight, they would not let me check in without a call from him. That’s the first time I’ve ever experienced that kind of issue, and it was odd.

The lobby and outdoor entrance has a major fly problem. Not the way for guests to be greeted. The bug problem is evident as there are build ups of dead flys in room windows. Cleanliness of room: The room was not up to the standard that I have known Marriott properties to uphold. From smears of matter unknown on walls, closet, bathroom doors and headboard was beyond fathomable. I did ask the front desk if there was any other rooms available and at the time there was nothing and we were told to come back in a few days to see if we could be moved. Carpets were soiled, floors had debris and hair as well as left over food. (all in video images attached). I took it upon myself to clean areas of major concern. Mirrors also had splatters of brown material on them. Quite disgusting. Towels: On two occasions towels were not in good condition and we called down for replacements on the first. The second time the towels appeared to be our reused ones that we left on the floor. (at least I hope they were ours) They were damp, had hair strings of hair and one had make-up. I tried to call down to the front numerous times but there was no answer at the front desk. Misrepresentation of advertised images and amenities: I would like to know when the images for the advertisement of the property were taken. There is no crystal blue water, in fact I found an article going back to 2017 speaking to the quality of the water conditions. This specific Marriott Hotel does not meet the standards of other hotels within the brand. I have tried to resolve issues but management is not working with me for resolution. So next is sharing my experience so others do not have to go through a similar experience.

I'm giving the Pier South Resort 5 stars, even though there were some issues with their restaurant. I feel like any company can make a mistake, but pay attention to how they resolve it for you. The hotel is very nice with stunning ocean views, and the staff members all were very friendly. Great location - many places of interest are within walking distance. We paid extra for a room with a balcony and ocean view. On the dates we were there, happy hour with drinks and appetizers were served on the rooftop lounge, we just needed to show our room key. On our last morning, we planned to have breakfast on the balcony in our room, watching the ocean. We called the in-room dining number 3 different times between 8:45am and 9am, but the phone was never answered. We called the front desk at 9am and they had room service call us back. Room service said that they were understaffed and we should call back in 90 minutes to place our order. Call back at 10:30am to order breakfast when checkout is 11am?! We only wanted a bagel and yogurt parfait, but I suppose if there is nobody there to bring the food, then it doesn't matter how simple the order was going to be. The room, parking and resort fees made this a very expensive stay, so not being able to enjoy it in the way we planned was very disappointing. On prior day we did eat at the restaurant, then after we finished, waited over 10 minutes for our check and after we said we were going to charge it to the room, that took another 10 minutes. Again, the restaurant Toasted was probably understaffed. I understand that is a common issue with many companies, but keep in mind that this is an expensive resort with expensive fees. I discussed our concerns with management, and received an apology along with a satisfactory resolution. We will try Pier South again someday, but at this time I cannot even say whether or not they actually offer room service.

I have nothing but great things to say about my recent staycation at Pier South Resort! Not only that but to mention, the ocean is right outside our beautiful room! The property is beautiful! If you are ever in the area I highly recommend staying here! I want to give a huge mention to Luis he made this experience very memorable for all of us and he was very welcoming! Luis always greeted us with a warm smile during our stay and was very knowledgeable of the resort!

We stayed 3 nights over during the 4th of July holiday weekend. Not sure how this is considered an Autograph Collection as our stay was underwhelming on many levels. Aside from new furniture, the layout and facilities are outdated and not well utilized. What this hotel really needs is an entire gut renovation along with additional and better trained staff. During our stay, the hotel ran out of towels, housekeeping didn't come on one of the days, we had ants in our room and as a Titanium member opting for the breakfast, was disappointed that only basic continental breakfast was included. The main benefit of staying here is to be on the beachside although the beach is not the nicest with lots of seaweed around.

Beautiful ocean view. The management Tim very friendly and accommodating. Carlos at front desk was amazing. Brand new room. Clean with beautiful new furniture. Valet availability but plenty of free parking across the street. Robes and sandals were given by room attendant.

We booked an oceanfront suite. Was given a studio. The room was filthy. Stained rugs with pizza still stuck on. The place wasn’t vacuumed and smelled like ****. We were shown a second room which viewed the beach and a basketball court. The pool had 3 chairs. The beach was condemned and you couldn’t swim. Which also means the same polluted water would have covered the sand. Not sanitary The elevator was dirty as was the lobby. We decided not to stay and got a full refund. This property is not worthy of the Marriott name.

How can something as perfect. When you arrive at Pier South you will know. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was not ready when we arrived. The clerk said she wasn’t going to make us wait and put us in a studio king room. The room was clean with a very relaxing feeling. The balcony has regular chairs and lounge chairs. We just sat out the and listened to the waves crashing. There are ceiling fans in the room. This allowed us to leave the door open so we didn’t have to use the AC all the time. Room service wasn’t terribly expensive. The food wasn’t typical room service food. There was plenty of food. So much so we ordered 1 breakfast entree and split it between the 2 of us. There is direct access to the beach so no issue there. You can easily walk to restaurants and shops. Because there isn’t a boardwalk along this area so the wasn’t over ran with people. Yes there were little imperfections like the sink drain was sluggish and it was a bit funky to have opaque glass in the door but there was just too much good we just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.

Our 6th anniversary couldn't be any better! We loved the hotel, the ocean view, the room. The entire staff was welcoming and gave us excellent service. 5 star review for Sharon up in the 5th floor, she made us feel welcome handing us blankets and offered us wine to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you Sharon!
