金沙尼羅河度假村(Jinja Nile Resort)

Our group of 14 were booked across 8 rooms at this resort for the last 3 nights of our stay in Uganda. We had paid for 3 nights through our tour company but left after 2 nights and booked a hotel in Kampala instead due to a multitude of problems most of which were ignored or poorly managed by the hotel. Amongst other problems we had : Missing room reservations and very slow check in process Wet/damp beds on check in Shower overflowing into bedrooms. Reported but not fixed. TV’s grainy and safes not working. Keycards stopping working Many rooms no towels. Requests for extra towels ignored The biggest problem of all is once problems were reported nothing was actioned unless it was chased up multiple times and in many cases nothing was done. This was all explained to Vishal, the Manager we spoke to when we were leaving the hotel. Although he apologised, there was no offer to make things right and no explanation as to why the service received was so poor. This is a very poorly managed hotel. Ignore the claimed 5 star rating and find somewhere else in area when visiting Jinja.

Party hotel… Friday and Saturday at the pool, it is noisy, big loudspeakers in the back and music from the pool bar at the other side, pool filled with youngsters jumping from pool bar into the pool and splashing water all over. If you were expecting to relax by the pool, read a book and have coffee or a beer - forget it!

The staff are very pleasant but not managed well. I stayed in two rooms due to problems with Wifi and A/C. Housekeeping is inconsistent - either lacking a checklist for each room changeover or the team leader is not checking. Reception says they will do something then forgets; remind them bt they don't call back. I then discovered that the team does not keep a logbook - a basic of hotel front desk management. The phone number of hotel sent with reservation is no longer their phone management did not update the listing. The phone on Google no one picked up during nine calls I made form 8 pm to 10 pm. So many maintenance issues I can't list them here. One example -cracked tiles, big ones, around the swimming pool - a hazard to guest's toes but again shows no management leadership. In its day it was a four start but has sunk to a three star product.

We got seated at 7pm, made our drinks orders and waited for 40 minutes before we saw any drinks, albeit after looking for waiters ourselves. It was further worsened by tables next to us being attended to briskly in contrast. It was as if the waiters had a preference to serve white guests to ordinary Ugandans. Be it for tips or otherwise, it was hard not to notice. The buffet was overpriced, delayed and lacked in creativity and/or variety. It was also a surprise to learn that we had to pay extra for room service despite the initial relatively high room cost. The Nile facing room literally had no view of the river to speak of. Branches had overgrown and obstructed any vantage point. In conclusion, we are normally easy guests to please, however, Jinja Nile Resort has failed to deliver as promised. All else could have been swept under the rug, but the blatant preferential trea**ent of guests by race/color is just not acceptable! And also the beddings need to be checked due to the weird itchy feeling we kept having while sleeping. (We ended up sleeping around 3 am)We had to check out first thing in the morning.

Great reception. Good rooms. Perfect views. Great for relaxation. Ambient Soroti songs with natural environment. Great food and quiet a**osphere. Great for couples, families or even groups reuniting.

Beautiful view of the River Nile. Pool was closed for renovations and we were not in informed prior. Friendly staff and excellent food.

Everything was great. The staff are very friendly and housekeeping was great as well. The restaurant food was great as well as the included breakfast. My only complaint is that the pool area was under renovations. I wish that would have been advised at the time of booking. But, it needed to be done and in a few weeks the pool area will be completly remodled for the summr guests.
