菲拉斯精品酒店和Spa(Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa)

Il faut prendre cette étape comme un musée hôtel au cœur de l’ancienne résidence de la famille Oppenheimer, la plus riche d’Afrique du Sud qui a dirigé près d’un siècle durant la De Beers, premier producteur mondial de diamants. La propriété est gigantesque, ceinte de hauts murs et de barbelés, protégée par des caméras et des vigiles comme toutes les résidences de luxe de Johannesburg. On y découvre sous une architecture austère de belles collections de meubles et de masques africains, un salon chinois, un salon de musique, un boudoir, et les jardins qui abritent une belle piscine. La magie s’arrête là. L’hôtel est manifestement mal géré. L’accueil à la réception est mal aimable. Nous avions la suite Tree House Studio (#20) : 250 m2, 2 chambres, 1 salon. L’une des 2 chambres donnait sur les toits de l’hôtel qui servent manifestement de débarras à ciel ouvert. Ni balcon ni terrasse pour profiter de la vue sur le jardin de l’autre chambre. Pas de toilettes séparées malgré la surface. Un seul flacon de savon pour le lavabo et la douche. Un chauffage excessif inréglable. La cuisine et le service du restaurant sont de bonne facture. Les calamars et le bar étaient excellents. Dommage que les vins français soient absents de la wine list. En revanche, le petit déjeuner est décevant. La capacité de l’hôtel lui permet d’accueillir des groupes : le restaurant est donc bruyant. Notre agence de voyage nous avait offert le dîner dans un salon privé, ce que nous ignorions : nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une salle de réunion avec un paper board. Nous avons demandé à réintégrer la salle de restaurant principal, très agréable. Le lendemain, lors du check out, la réceptionniste a essayé de nous facturer le salon privé, ce que nous avons refusé.

We booked a pedicure for my Mom’s birthday. There were 4 of us. On arrival, we were asked to sit down and complete a form, the questions asked had nothing to do with our treatment and seemed to be a waste of time. We were never offered refreshments that were available on the table. We were then taken to the area where they did our pedicures. On our walk down there, we were pleasantly impressed with the outlay of the spa and the serene and calming feeling of the greenery, gardens and bamboo trees. Unfortunately the room where you have the pedicures was quite the opposite. There was no atmosphere at all. It was very bright with uncomfortable chairs and no leg rest. The ladies who attended to our treatment were very unfriendly, not particularly well groomed and a lot of noise and clanging going on in their preparation room. They also seemed to just disappear quickly after the treatment. Overall we just felt let down, especially after the amount we paid at this supposed high end spa.

Tellement dommage la mauvaise accueil . Zéro explication sur le spa , piscine etc . Au restaurant le personnel était juste pressé de finir . Pas proposé de prendre un café etc. Après le repas . Vraiment pas un service de boutique hôtel de 5 étoiles, pourtant c’est un endroit de catégorie .

Such spectacular and peaceful grounds, but the rooms felt tired and dirty. Housekeeping also was lacking and in general it was an underwhelming experience staying at the hotel. I will say the spa was good, pity about the rest.

Unique hotel consisting of several mansions, all nicely decorated with African art. Very picturesque grounds, including a Japanese garden. About 30 min from the airport. Very large rooms, friendly staff. Small pool but the weather in June was too cold for swimming. The same goes for the patio restaurant. Inside restaurant had a fireplace but limited menu (for tour group members).

The hotel went so much down, its just depressing. Dirty dusty carpets with the stuff still laying around. Thin bathrobes like we are in the middle of the summer. No 24/7 room service and when I requested 2 bottles of water at 11 pm, been advised to drink water from a tap. Whaoh, just shocking. Food quality went downscale drastically as well after the covid. Spa is still holding onto the good level

My friends and I booked a morning tea for a birthday. On arrival at the hotel at 10am, we were shown to the high tea set-up, which was beautiful. Luckily we were the only people there that morning, so could take numerous photos of the amazing set-up. We were firstly explained the various teas available. The amount of food was perfect- a savoury stand, then a sweet stand and a stand with scones. With myself not eating any meat, the separate vegetarian stand was much appreciated. The highlight of the tea was definitely the fresh banana bread with caramel topping. The wait staff was so helpful and accommodating, even making us a fresh pot of tea when ours got cold. The only disappointment of the morning, was that upon booking we were promised a complimentary birthday cupcake, which did not materialise. I feel like something could have been done to mark this as a special occasion. On finishing our tea, we took a stroll around the beautiful gardens and the hotel (which reminded me of The Oyster Box). Was a pleasant morning and i will re-visit this unexpected oasis in the middle of the suburbs.

Amazing place, staff with second to none guest service quality. Meticulous attention to detail when it comes to everything EXCEPT THE GYM - OUTDATED EQUIPMENT, MASSIVE ROOM HALF EMPTY, RUSTY DUMBBELLS, CROSSTRAINER NOT WORKING… Please do invest into proper kit, this is the repeating feedback which management somehow always ignores
