This hotel was built in 1948 and not much seems have been done since to maintain it. I saw two mosquitoes immediately on arrival in my room; they sent insect spray straight away. The safe was out of battery and despite repeated requests, this was never fixed, so I had to carry my valuables around with me for my whole stay. The furniture was stained and looked very old and unclean. The bathroom ceiling in one room was covered in fungus and leaked water. The bedroom ceiling in a second room was covered in fungus and smelled so mouldy that I couldn't sleep for fear of inhaling spores. The WiFi was weak and at times cut out completely. The fridges in both rooms were old and noisy and had to be unplugged. In the first room, the key card reader was defective and I had to insert the card an average of ten times to gain access. The AC units in both rooms were old and did not respond well to the remote control. It was very difficult to regulate the temperature. The hairdryer provided on request was weak and did not allow me to dry my hair properly; also the plug kept falling out of the old, loose socket. This applied to all of my appliances. The hotel is in need of major refurbishment. The two stars given are for pleasant and helpful reception staff and porters, and the breakfast buffet, which included a good egg station.
