I love the Sonesta Brand!

The hotel had construction going on during our entire stay, with drilling and loud noises, tile dust flying everywhere through the walkways. There is nothing to do near by the hotel also… there’s the one beach on the property, which is convenient, but if you want to see any other beaches you need to drive 30 minutes. Also, something absolutely disgusting and unacceptable happened… My husband saw a chef (in his uniform) use the restroom, and leave without washing his hands. I could seriously go on, but never staying here again.

To start off we arrived at Airport and waited 30min for hotel shuttle when they never showed we called and waited another 10min. When we got to the Hotel there was construction going on which wasn't mentioned on the hotel website or hotel.coms website. When we checked out they had $30. parking charges per day for our entire stay after we told them we had no car when they asked at checkin.

We had a great stay at the Royal Sonesta in mid-September 2023. The pool is fabulous, and there is also great access to the sandy beach and calm waters of Kalapaki Bay. You can't go wrong either poolside or oceanside. At either location, attendants come around frequently to take food or drink orders so that guests can totally relax. The restaurant at the resort, Kukui's, and those along the beach path, Duke's and Cafe Portofino, all have excellent views of the waters and the food is fair. If you want to go off-site for an excursion, or to try another restaurant in the area, it can be a bit of a hike from your room to the parking area if you do not use the valet parking ($40 per night, compared to $30 per night for self-parking). For the extra $10 per night, if you plan on going out a lot, valet parking is recommended. If you want to sit poolside in the shade, there are plenty of umbrellas that are set up for this, but you must get up early to claim your spot - they go fast! Oceanside - just pull a lounge chair under a tree and you should be fine. We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful resort in Lihue.

The ambience is fantastic, very relaxing. Parking can be bothersome at times. Its close to a resturant so you can go down the wrong route. Once you're there, it is like paradise for the whole family. 10/10 would highly recommend.

It was a clean safe environment. Staff are wonderful. The outside was absolutely stunning and the beach was absolutely beautiful and clean. Thank you for a wonderful time.

It was just beautiful. Such a convenient location if you are looking to travel to other areas of the island. Friendly service , other dining options nearby.
