A private family run hotel and you could understand why it is so good. The staff were interested and very helpful, attentive at all times and creating a really friendly vibe. First time at the hotel and will recommend it !

Beautiful boutique hotel in a fabulous building. Staff were exceptionally polite, helpful & well trained. Food was excellent evening meal and breakfast. We used the Spa facilities which were as good as any we’ve been to. Will come back when working this way in the next few weeks.

Really lovely, helpful staff. A beautiful place to stay and the views are stunning. The garden is a relaxing place to sit out and enjoy either eating, having a drink or admiring the view! The food is good, breakfast is top notch. The Spa is one of the nicest I've been to and I've been to a fair few! The massage was also very good and worth every penny. I have had a thoroughly relaxing and delightful stay.

I love this hotel. It is small enough to provide a personal experience but big enough to have wonderful grounds and spa and a great kitchen.. The staff are amazing (mostly local) and the rooms comfortable and traditionally decorated. It clearly has a loyal following and I hope it never changes!!

The restaurant is outstanding. I would visit again just to eat here. Location is really good. Lots of nice walks to do. Would have 5 stars except spa wasn’t warm enough and poor selection of alcohol free drinks.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very nice and capable personnel. Good restaurant and good food. As we don't travel that much in the UK we might never be able to return. But, we'll tell our friends about Ilsington

Lovely hotel in a great setting, staff very helpful and friendly, food out of this world. Super views of Dartmoor, over the hotel grounds.

disappointing lunch ordered cheese baguette when it arrived I was told that there were no baguettes and was presented with 3 small rolls with a spoonful of grated cheese with pickle in each, 2 small pieces of tomato a few leaves with a few small pieces of cucumber with a few chips. Steve

We have stayed here for many years with our aunt and the quality of the food and service seems to get better every year - if that’s possible! This is a truly relaxing place to stay and a great location for exploring Dartmoor and South Devon. The bedrooms are large and the spa an absolute treat. We love it here and they do seem to have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and special.
