巴萊塞拉瑪旅館(Balai Serama Guesthouse)

If you visit Taman Negara, there are not that many options where it comes to hotels. So try something a bit different for a change and stay at the Balai Serama guesthouse. We did, and we had the utmost pleasant surprise. First off, you won’t find it. That is why the owners pick you up as soon as you arrive in the village of Kuala Tahan. Be that by boat or by bus. For free, that is. Just call them, or ask a local. Where do you find it these days… The guesthouse consists of a sort of main building where the dining room is. The rooms are situated in a building next to that. In the middle you’ll find a beautiful garden. Ijat, the male owner, takes pride in maintaining it and that shows. In front of the premises, there is the river and jungle. Sometimes elephants pass by. You’ll hear lots of birds singing and the occasional monkey. You will also meet Marja, Ijat’s wife. She is from Holland and she will help you with everything you might possibly need. Be it a car transfer to the jetty, or to go out on an excursion. No trouble at all. The rooms are clean, with a separate bathroom, and a good working airconditioning. It is not that spacious, but large enough for a few days. Out front, there is a terrace with chairs and a small table. The beds sleep well enough for most people. Should you want to enjoy a drink, you can just approach Ijat or Marja. They have a selection of soda’s and beer (no wine) which is then charged to your room and you just pay when you leave. If you want, you can book some excursions through the guesthouse. Especially the whole day jungle tour is highly recommended. It is hard to get an experience like it anytime soon. The whole place has a really laid back atmosphere. No rush. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room which is entirely open on all sides. The meals are simple, but tasty and you’ll find that is is good and enough to get to to the next day. I wrote this in English as there are quite a few reviews in Dutch already. Apart from the Dutch guests, you will also find other nationalities so this will make it easier for you to read. I can recommend this place highly. We certainly had a great time and after the crowds and noise of Kuala Lumpur, it turned out to be a gem of tranquility. Cet établissement se trouve au bord d'une rivière avec un magnifique jardin très bien entretenu. Situé à quelques kilomètres seulement du célèbre parc national de Taman Negara, il est niché dans un écrin de verdure. Il est même possible de se faire conduire par les hôtes au parc national pour les différentes activités proposées. L'accueil n'est pas des plus chaleureux, comparé aux autres accueils que l'on a connus au fil de notre périple. Même un peu froid, à vrai dire. Il y a un petit parking où l'on peut se garer si vous conduisez une voiture. La chambre est spacieuse avec une salle de bain fonctionnelle. La literie est bonne, assez simple mais cela est suffisant pour les deux nuits que nous y avons dormi. Notre terrasse avec table et chaises donnait directement sur le jardin, quoi de plus reposant ! Le petit-déjeuner et le repas du soir sont compris dans le prix de la chambre. En ce qui concerne le dîner, tout est fait maison et c'est vraiment très bon, varié d'un soir à l'autre. Concernant le petit-déjeuner, le choix est plus restreint et il y a un peu plus de produits issus de l'industrie agro-alimentaire, c'est dommage, nous aurions voulu plus de produits frais locaux. Il est possible de choisir des excursions avec l'établissement et ils se chargent de réserver pour nous. Nous avons choisi la promenade de nuit dans la jungle (35 RM/ personne) et l'excursion en pirogue à Lata Berkoh (250 RM pour 2). L'excursion en pirogue était vraiment géniale, la promenade de nuit peut-être pas indispensable. Très bon rapport qualité-prix.

Camera pulita, è presente l’essenziale. Molto piacevole la zona pranzo, fronte fiume e con un giardino tenuto in ottime condizioni. Colazione e cene, ricche e deliziose. Il marito della proprietaria molto disponibile, ci ha accompagno in meno di 10 minuti all’ingresso della camminata Canopy. Unica pecca, non vi era l’asciugacapelli.

Nice guesthome at the water, clean rooms, organized a nice Tour from the hotel to the jungle. Breakfast and diner are ok. Friendly. Beds too hard for our liking. No WiFi allthough displayed that there is. Overall a good stay

Un couple courageux et accueillant, aux petits soins pour vous. Petit déjeuner de prince et dîner de roi, tout est frais, fait maison et copieux. Les activités autour sont sympa, le repos appaisant sur un jardin magnifiquement entretenu et vue sur la rivière. Ambiance familiale appréciée. Merci Maria et Patrick !

An absolute gem of a guesthouse. Superb location - peaceful with great views overlooking the river, surrounded by the jungle and a beautiful garden. The hosts were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble - just ask and the activities were organised! Do the day trip to Kuala Sat - away from most other tourists and a great experience) A free shuttle service to take you where you need ( the guesthouse is several km from Kuala Tahan but that just added to its charm). Spotless, comfortable rooms and good plentiful food ( even for a vegetarian 😁 If you are headed to Tamen Negara don’t miscount on this place ! SH

We hebben het enorm naar ons zin gehad. De Nederlandse eigenaresse heeft alle activiteiten voor ons geregeld en geboekt. Zij of haar man bracht en haalde ons elke dag. Er wordt een Nederlands ontbijt geserveerd (waar wij heel blij mee waren na de hotels met nasi als ontbijt). ‘s avonds is er een ruime keuze bij het lopend buffet. Bij het eten hadden we een prachtig uitzicht over de rivier. De kamer en badkamer zijn prima en schoon!

Nous avons séjourné deux nuits au balai serama guesthouse. L’endroit est magnifique et très bien entretenu. Les hôtes sont d’une gentillesse incroyable et très aidant dans la proposition d’activités. Nous avons même été déposés plusieurs fois à nos activité par l’hôte de ce guesthouse. Les chambres sont confortables et avec nos 3 enfants nous avons eu droit à des chambres communicantes. Le petit déjeuner et le dîner sont inclus. Les plats sont excellents ! Nous recommandons vivement ce guesthouse a 5mn en voiture de l’entrée du parc Taman negara : endroit donc bien plus calme que les chambres proposées à l’entrée du parc , et beaucoup plus intimiste.
