潤豐汀鴕鳥宮酒店(Rietfontein Ostrich Palace)

Elmare and Kobus have created a wonderful haven on their farm.Such lovely people who offer high quality accommodation and the most delicious food. We stayed in both a room “on the other side” and one next to their home. The buildings have been so tastefully renovated and decorated. The beds are so comfortable. Regretfully we only discovered the amazing pool as we were about to leave. We wish we had booked for longer.

This is situated between Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn in the Karoo. If you like semi-desert this is your ideal spot with the Red Mountains just behind the Rietfontein. The hosts, Kobus and Elmare could not do enough for us - they were so warm and hospitable. My wife has food issues and Elmare had no problem amending her menu. She is a wonderful cook. The early morning and evening views are fantastic. The room we stayed in was "Kurt se |Kerkie", filled with memorabilia.This is the second time we stayed there, and the only regret is that we did not stay longer. I suggest you book direct with the place. The online hotel booking agencies hit these small places with at least a 15% commission, quite outrageous.

Beautiful cottages furnished with antiques. Very comfortable and peaceful. The whole property is just exuding old world charm and history. We've visited for the second time and this time around we also had dinner there, which was simply spectecular (as was breakfast the next morning)!

We had a delightful overnight stay at Rietfontein. Our room and facilities were superb, and our hosts, Kobus and Elmaré most welcoming and hospitable. Elmaré is a domestic goddess and gave us an exquisite dinner, followed by a first class breakfast the following morning. We can highly recommend the Ostrich Palace!

The Rietfontein Ostrich Palace was an oasis in the karoo. We stayed here one night on our travels through South Africa, and I wish we could have stayed longer. The property was beautiful. The room was stunning, comfortable & well appointed. And the meals (dinner & breakfast) were so delicious! I'd recommend this to anyone, and hope to return one day.

We travelled around South Africa for 4 weeks and stayed in 11 different places and this was our favourite! Sadly we only stayed one night on our way back to Cape Town. Our room was huge & all the furniture was top quality. The pool with the view was stunning and the dinner and breakfast was fantastic! Highly recommended

A very nice place and very friendly people. Delicious dinner in a great atmosphere. The rooms are beautiful with a lot of nice details. It’s a bit outside of Oudtshoorn but very calm and nice. We recommend to stay there!

Ostrich Palace is easy to find, the views are stunning, the rooms are neat and decorated beautifully, as are the tables. The food is delicious and Elmarie and Cobus are wonderful hosts. We would very much like to go stay there again.

This place is just great, 2 rooms super well decorated and furnished in a very special place with a very special history! The owners are great, very friendly and super interesting. And the food (we had dinner) was marvelous ! Unfortunately we stayed only one night ( both rooms with some of our kids) and had no opportunity to explore the area.
