We booked two rooms for our family not knowing what to expect (we were coming to visit a local University). After a long drive, we arrived and we greeted by friendly and helpful staff then were able to have a lovely meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good as well. Atmosphere was relaxed, decor was classy yet made you feel comfortable. My teenage daughter said the whole place had a great ‘vibe’.

Hotel with a lot of character. Ideal for a very relaxing stay. Some very nice touches that display a bit of thought, eg provided a small flask of fresh milk on arrival, making for much nicer in-room tea & coffees than with the usual little plastic tubs.

Such a nice conversion from an old taxation building into a lovely, small hotel with full pub on the ground floor. Clean, spacious, excellent breakfast and overall pub experience in the evening. Close to everything but the University (which is close to nothing)! My second stay, will come again.

The Tool Inn is a very cosy place, it has a pub downstairs, and the breakfast is top!
I strongly recommend it.
The only problem is that the walls are not very thick so it is easy to hear noise from other rooms.

Upfront this is a really welcoming place and the staff were great , flexing restaurant booking to accommodate extra, unexpected guests and making sure we had all we needed for our stay. Given its location in the centre of town, it’s really convenient to be able to walk to most places, room was comfortable and shower was one of the best (beats many higher starred places for power!).

My partner and I stayed for 1 night an Easter break away, we loved the location, friendly helpful staff and the clean well equipped rooms, a beautiful hotel. We will definitely be going back.

The place looks lovely and is well located/ The evening food a little disappointing although the breakfast was lovely. Room nice but bathroom smelt of mold. The venue does have a lift to each floor, so a good point if poor on your feet.
