肯布爾酒店(Kemble Inn)

The property is beautiful outside, and the inside has so much promise. Unfortunately it is going through a change in ownership: there are no fires in the fireplaces, the art work has been all removed and substituted with photos, there is one person in charge and he is limited in what he can do, there is no dining room service for dinner and a very limited breakfast available. When you pay that much for a room (Over $350.) one would expect a bit more. And there are absolutely no cancellations...period. Once you make your reservation and give your credit card, it is a final sale.

Apparently the hotel may be sold at foreclosure and I am sorry for the owner, he put a lot of his heart and soul into this project (I glean this from his story on the website). Still, I don't think it's fair to charge the same price for the rooms as when he had a bar and restaurant and working fireplaces. My room had a fire place, it was unusable as the owner did not want to pay to have the chimneys cleaned. The coffee was awful and although breakfast came with our room, after eating the worst scrambled eggs and strangely flat bacon - I've never seen pressed flat bacon - I said to my husband, this meal tastes like grief. Hard to believe that the owner was a CIA grad - don't know who he has cooking breakfast but it can't be him. On the plus side, the room was beautiful, the waterworks shower delightful, the Ralph Lauren furniture was elegant, but the mattress on the fabulous bed is lumpy. Not sure why the view from this room is touted on the site. You can sort of see the church but it's mostly blocked by a tall grass hedge and the third window offers a view of the parking lot. It doesn't look anything like the website photos, it's been *****ped of a lot of its furnishings. It just feels sad and empty, another victim of the pandemic.

My sister and I booked out the entire Kemble Inn for 3 nights to celebrate our father's 80th Birthday with our entire family. With the pending sale we were super nervous that things wouldn't be as smooth as we had dreamt they would be but were we happily surprised. The weekend went off without a hitch. Scott was incredibly forthcoming and honest and the Inn is immaculate and breathtakingly beautiful. Simply put we were blown away. Best of all was Vinny, the manager who was with us for the weekend. He couldn't do enough and made the entire weekend very special. A perfect location, a perfect weekend, a perfect place to stay.

My husband and I booked 2 nights at the Kemble Inn as part of a last-minute getaway. We were blown away by the quality of the Inn, its linens, rooms, food, etc. but best of all was Vinny, the Brazilian manager who was running the place and who bent over backwards to make everything seamless for us. When we mentioned we were going to Tanglewood, he had us preorder dinner and had a table on the verandah set and our food ready early in order to assure we made it on time. We have stayed at a lot of high end hotels, and hospitality like this is a rare find.

We had a reservation for 3 nights in July 2020 which was PAID IN FULL! We reached out right before only to be told that due to the pandemic the Inn was open but not the restaurant and none of the restaurants in Lenox were open - understandable but we would have no place to eat- so we rescheduled for this month July 2021. When we called to confirm - we were rudely told that they had no record of any reservation for us AND would not accommodate us for any other weekend - we had essentially lost our $ and there was nothing they could do for us! Outrageous! We had stayed at the Kemble Inn 2 summers in a row prior to this and had a lovely stay both times! I am shocked and appalled that at this trea**ent! Unfortunately, I would proceed with EXTREME CAUTION before booking a room here! We were treated terribly and lost quite a bit of $ as this is not an inexpensive place!!
