奧塔哥奧利韋斯中心酒店(Olivers Central Otago)

Olivers Lodge est à l'image de Clyde : absolument charmant. Le temps semble s'être arrêté dans ce lieu à la décoration de la fin du XIXe siècle. Tout y est : les tableaux, les fauteuils accueillants, les tapis colorés et la décoration d'un autre temps. Tant de raffinement est un véritable régal pour les yeux. On apprécie le jardin digne d'un cottage. Ce n'est pas pour autant que le confort passe au second plan. Ici, tout est fait pour que vous vous sentiez comme dans un cocon. Le lit king size est douillet et la salle de bain, joliment décorée elle aussi, est très fonctionnelle. Si l'on ajoute un accueil attentionné et un breakfast d'anthologie pris en commun avec les autres invités dans une salle cosy à souhait avec sa grande table en bois, son mobilier ancien, ses pierres, ses boiseries et les nombreuses porcelaines qui parachève l'English Touch, il n'y a qu'un mot à dire : parfait.

We spent a delightful couple of nights enjoying the hospitality offered at Oliver’s Lodge in Otago. After four days of intense activity on some of New Zealand most challenging golf courses we retreated to Oliver’s to recover! The lodge is an oasis of calm and peace, a quiet boutique B and B which serves delicious breakfasts and also offers fine dining in the adjacent restaurant. Clyde is an historic heritage town and the accomodation captures the rustic ambience of the pioneering days. A visit to the Clyde Dam is a treat, especially with Russell as your guide. He is extraordinarily informative and personable! Our Clyde interlude was an absolute treat! Thank you David.

Ja, als je in een koloniaal gebouw wilt verblijven, moet je hier naartoe. Prachtig gebouw met een veranda waar je rustig kunt zitten. Ontbijt is primitief wat mij betreft, alleen toast en ontbijtgranen. Wij zaten met de kleine in de rustique kamer, wat achter het koloniale gebouw ligt, je kunstvezel overal komen. Prettig verblijf gehad!!!

Just a wonderful Olde World establishment with the best hosts in Ian Meredith. We will return. Breakfast is included and just beautiful. We visited middle of winter and were warm and cosy. Great situation, just across the road from Olivers restaurant.

Don’t stay here unless you want to stay in a shoebox with no fridge and no TV! For the price they charge you’d expect not to have to share a communal fridge and tv. It would also be nice to have some space and decent chairs to sit in. Everything was cramped, the floorboards creaked, it was dark and smelt old! And then there was the hot breakfast! Revolting. Never again!

The proud and passionate owners, Ian and Meredith, make a friendly atmosphere of the Dunstan house, where we felt really welcome. The house is brilliant and a sort of museum. We actually felt, we lived in 1900, with all the characteristics and details of that time. The accommodations are also very clean. Ian and Meredith, thanks a lot for this great experience !

David and Andy, you are the most amazing hosts. The hotel is something from a novel, the rooms are spectacularly furnished, the breakfast are 10 Star and your guest service is absolutely extraordinary. Thank you for everything.

We stayed for one night before we spent 4 days cycling the Otago Central Rail Trail and one night after we finished. We had a lovely, warm, genuine welcome from Ian both times and he and other staff were on hand to ensure our stay went well. We felt valued. The exterior and interior of Dunstan House are charming and having use of the shady wrap-around balcony was a bonus. Our room and en-suite bathroom area were spacious enough for all our stuff. The continental breakfast was good quality and quantity. Easy off-road parking. We had a room at the back and it was very peaceful. Superb blackout curtains and respectful, quiet fellow guests made for restful nights. Dunstan House is right at the centre of the cute town of Clyde, an excellent location for exploring the area. As Clyde is a hub for various cycle trails, it's ideal for anyone using these.

The manager told us they have to keep the front door locked during the day because people walking past on the street try to come in thinking it’s a museum! The front lobby is certainly like stepping back in time. We had the Fountain Room, a queen bed with ensuite with windows onto the front verandah. All the bedrooms, being Victorian era, are quite small and not very soundproof. The historic character and excellent location on the main street of Clyde make up for any short comings, and the friendly and helpful staff are the icing on the cake.
