太陽鳥首都酒店(Sunbird Capital)

The hotel still requires a lot of improvement. Not much has changed since the last year I worked in Malawi and stayed many times at Sunbird Capital in 2004. No lift/escalator for disabled patrons; Rooms are comfortable but still dated -no change to bathroom facilities - not bad but dated. Very comfortable bed and spacious room; Staff are polite and friendly and attend to your needs promptly. Breakfast offered a variety - Great food. Pressing Iron and Kettle have a different plug and no visible instructions as to which socket to plug in. Locked us out even when we had extended our check-out time. Had to call someone to open for us.

The room I was given was noisy with the smell the new carpeting in the corridor. Called reception to request change of room and was kept holding for greater than 5 minutes. At the 3rd attempt, I was passed onto a receptionist who instead of sending someone to assess the situation simply just advised that the hotel was full hence little could be done. In spite of having a 20 years plus relationship with this hotel, I checked out the same evening.

I stayed here for the last 2 nights of my holiday; and the hotel is a soul less. They could not provide hot water unless you ran the hot taps for 20 mins; after a day they tried to repair the fault but to no avail. I only got a functioning key over a day into my stay having to ask reception to be let into my room in the meantime, and at least on one occasion having to redirect the staff as to where my room was. I asked directions to a restaurant locally (walking distance) and was given directions which lead me to an army base! I asked a local who worked out I was given directions to somewhere 2 miles away with little on no street lighting / pavement. I had friends who stayed at the Golden Peacock and would recommend it and is cheaper. Ditto Woodlands which is more rustic but has wild animals in the grounds and is near the wildlife centre. I could go on but you get the drift by now.

My office made the reservation with the reservation tesm but when I checked in, my booking wasnt there. An inconvenience and this is not the first time its happened with our company. I eventually got a room. The room though had no operational shower.

I came from the USA and stayed here for a week for a work conference that was hosted here. The facilities (meeting room, pool, lodging, bars, restaurant) was all fantastic. The service was very friendly, everything runs very smoothly. Good water pressure, hot water, Wi-Fi, and everything you need for a business meeting. I enjoyed it a lot and would be back! Also did a day trip to the one in Salima at the lake and it was high standards and quality as well. Thank you for a nice stay!

Spent 4 nights for a business trip, loved everything about it from the welcome at the reception to the old designed building that give it a different atmosphere from the usual city vibe. The breakfast is amazing with so much variety. And room service is at no extra cost

The best place to wine, dine and sleep while in Lilongwe. The best there can ever be. The location is spot on. The amenities are well maintained and the gardens are well kept. Massive grounds that you should explore.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent meals. Comfy and clean rooms.
